Our stay in Green Valley was memorable. It's close to Haputale and the main attractions and waterfalls. There is a bus stand just right in front of the hotel. There are nice and affordable rooms in the jungle. The staff are friendly and always happy to help. The food was awesome as well.

The location is perfect, a few minutes walk from Haputale train station with a fantastic view over the tea plantation (right next door) and the hills beyond. It is a quiet and peaceful spot. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the hot shower is excellent. The Sri Lankan breakfast was very tasty. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Gamini arranged for a taxi to take us to the start of our walk on two days (we walked two sections of the Pekoe trail). He also arranged for a very early breakfast on the day we needed to catch an early train.

Amazing view from the balcony and also from inside the room due to the windows and glass door. Light was great in the room, large bed, good bathroom with toiletries. Lots of attention to detail. Shan kindly picked us up with tuk tuk from the centre when we arrived and when we needed to go to the station. On the opposite side of the property there are tea plantations which are lovely to walk through at sunrise. Very tasty breakfast and evening meals as well. Loved the quiet location and would definitely return as the views of the valley are stunning. Thank you for a great stay.

Capoe House in Sri Lanka is a hidden sanctuary that truly feels like a slice of heaven. From the moment you’re driven up the winding dirt track, you’re greeted by an awe-inspiring landscape—breathtaking views of rolling hills and serene nature that immediately set your spirit at ease.
The villa itself is nothing short of extraordinary. The one-bedroom suite, complete with a private plunge pool, exudes meticulous attention to detail in its decor, creating an ambiance of luxurious comfort and tranquility. Every element of the design seems thoughtfully curated to blend seamlessly with the stunning surroundings, making your stay feel both intimate and indulgent.
What makes the experience truly unforgettable is the impeccable service. Manager Eranda Sameerana stands out as a genuine, warm-hearted individual with an unmatched passion for nature. His incredible knowledge of the local wildlife and his amazing nature photography—images that could easily grace the pages of National Geographic—add a unique and personal touch to the property. His enthusiasm for the environment truly elevates the entire experience.
Adding to the magic is Kiru, the butler whose attentive, genuine service made every moment of your stay effortless and memorable. His kindness and commitment to attending to every need left an indelible impression—a true gem of a man.
The culinary delights at Capoe House are equally impressive. Chef Madhu Anka’s food is outstanding, with dinner—and especially the soup—standing out as culinary masterpieces that perfectly complement the overall dining experience.
The dedication of the entire team, including the hardworking staff members Dilshand and Supan, is evident in every detail. Their seamless, behind‑the‑scenes efforts—climbing up and down the hill to ensure every room is immaculate—contributed to a level of service that transformed our stay into something truly special.

The views were amazing!
I spent a month at the Bel View Guest House home stay.
I took the extra option of dinners there. The breakfasts were included in the price.
Great for someone looking for a quiet retreat to relax, that is not hot like the coastal areas.
The hosts will gladly help to refer you to places depending on what you like.
A must visit place in Haputale id the Adisham Bungalow. It is a very old, well manicured, rock monastery at the top of a mountain.
It is run by the St. Benedict monks. They have a little shop that sells the juices, marmalade and jams that they sell there. None of the products have any additives or chemicals and the tastiness shows that.

Haputale is a small, sleepy Sri Lankan town - as opposed to a tourist town - in a beautiful hill country setting. It is much quieter and much cheaper to stay in than the tourist hot-spots of Nuwara Eliya or Ella, with a range of locally-run guesthouses, rooms and restaurants. The sleepy train station connects it with Colombo, Kandy and Ella, buses pass through and tuk-tuks can take you to nearby waterfalls or the iconic Lipton's Seat from which the stroll down through tea fields is stunning. There are several Olives restaurants in Haputale - Viewpoint was our favourite both for food and a stunning view. If you want a party then avoid Haputale as you'd be bored.

The trip to Lipton's seat takes about 5 hours round trip but is amazing...much better experience than the tour book suggested. An absolute delight was the opportunity to have tea and excellent snacks while in c the clouds at the peak...for an amazingly low price.
Views from our balcony were spectacular and the food - both dinner and breakfast - was top notch

Haputale is no substitute for Ella it's an extra stop.
Haputale is no substitute for Ella it's an extra stop. Haputale has fabulous views right in town and from your lodge, but there is a draught of travellers hang out cafés, while in Ella, you got to hike for the views, the town is packed with cafés and restaurants that makes you want to stay longer. Lodges in Haputale doesn't seem to put people together for shared transport to Horton plains anymore. Almost nobody is going there. I got a very good deal on transport there, but bailed in the gate and went back, due to extortionate entrance fees that added up to $49 for 1 person! - for a 3h hike!!!! - Lipton seat is well worth it though. Go early in the day before the clouds are covering it. The ride up takes you through beautiful tea plantations as well.

It's a lovely and unique area for trekking and hiking. The weather is wonderful, it's a place where the weather changes 6 times a day. Beautiful.
Bambarakanda Falls, Diyaluma Falls, Upper Diyaluma, Haputale Mountain, Lipton's Seat, and Horton Plains are nearby places. Adhisham's Bungalow is another unique experience to see the wildlife in night.

Our stay here couldn’t have been better. The guesthouse is the perfect location in Haputale with a stunning view, and our room was comfortable and big. The best part of our stay was being looked after by the lovely family who were so friendly and generous. We had delicious meals and thanks to his advice and organising we had great trips to Lipton’s seat and Horton Plains. Thanks so much!
Affordable rooms. You get what you pay for. Located in a very picturesque location surrounded by tea plantations. The views around the area are amazing. You can catch a bus to get to the Haputale town and/or Lipton seat, or take a stroll around the plantations to spend your time. There is also a small rotti shop quite close by if you want to grab a quick bite.
The apartment is close to the train station and bus stop. View is absolutely incredible. Bed was comfortable and there were extra blankets as it got cold at night.
You can take a direct bus to Diyaluma waterfall for very cheap (five minute walk from the hotel). There's also a nice tea factory and cafe you can walk to through the tea plantations in around 30m.
Beautiful hotel with stunning view and very friendly staff. The owner is great and helped us with everything. We loved the beautiful garden! Excellent place for families as well. The food is great, the atmosphere very relaxed. By far the best place we stayed in Sri Lanka!
This hotel is located in city centre, easy to access transportation and everything. Rooms are clean and the view is beautiful. The staff is friendly and helpful, specially Chathura who helped us a lot during our stay in Haputale.
