Beautiful old Dutch colonial style family home with a handful of bedrooms with ensuites. Fairly centrally located but quiet. Narayan who looked after us was charming. Highly recommend fantastic fruit platters and curd for breakfast and chicken nasi for dinner. It seems a lot more expensive than other Jaffna options but was small and intimate which we prefer.

We had a most amazing stay at The Thinnai. The property is well maintained with lovely garden, the restaurant has fantastic dinner options, the breakfast buffet is plentiful, the suite is tastefully decorated, the personnel is very welcoming. Strongly recommended!

    The two staff members at the hotel are incredibly proactive and do a fantastic job of keeping everything in order. They were also very accommodating, making it a secure spot for families. I would certainly recommend it for future visits.

    Jaffna is a beautiful place to visit. Places and temples are beautifully crafted with ancestral works. People we met were friendly and courteous. Places like Nallur Kandaswamy Temple, Nagadeepa Vihara and Nagapooshani Amman Temple in an island, and few other places, it’s beyond words. Need to feel the atmosphere personally to have the divine presence and connection within one’s self. Best food eatery place for us is Jaffna Authentic Cuisine. Getting around places is convenient with auto and grab cabs too.

    Jaffna has its own character.

    Jaffna has its own character. Jaffna people are very nice and helpful. There are lots of places to visit. Kandasami Kovil, Keerimale, Point Pedro, Jaffna market, Jaffna Library, Jaffna Fort etc. We had Thosai, wadai, rice . If you love ice cream, Rio Ice Cream is the best. If you are diabetic avoid it. Rio Ice cream is full of sugar. It is easy to get around. Three wheelers are the cheapest. If you can ride a scooter, this is the best option. But be aware, the sun can be pretty strong!! But at the same time practically nobody follows the road rules. Hope you have medical insurance !

    For Australians, it is very cheap.

    For Australians, it is very cheap. Going by road, with a local driver, the trip is long, time wise not distance, but worthwhile. Having your own transport is also helpful in getting around Jaffna. Do your research when planning sightseeing trips, as with the highest speed limit of 70 & the chaotic traffic, it takes longer than you may be use to. We ate at our hotel, The Thinnai, because breakfast was included & we found that the quality & options was great. Having a roll of toilet paper in your car is useful. Remember, Sri Lanka is a 3rd world country which has suffered much because of the civil war, particularly Jaffna, and other political factors. So don't expect the same standard as you would in, say, Italy. Jaffna is recovering very well & a healthy tourism is very important. Our family will be making plans to return to Sri Lanka & Jaffna.

    There is plenty of room for improvement and quality of service and management to improve. Only then with proper training Jaffna can reach international standards than Colombo Standards. Go and visit Bombay and Delhi. Only then one would realize the difference. Or Singapore and Dubai/Doha. The workers are not trained, a.nd managers are not trained. Sad

    Tamil culture, heartland of srilanka Tamil culture . Promising upcoming tourist place, pristine as yet unspoilt by hordes of tourists. Very close to south india yet have something unique of its own. Magnificent Hindu temples, beach, bottomless well so many things to see in Jaffna. Must visit Rio icecream near Nallur temple, Jaffna fort, King Sangiliyan statue, 3 kings monument near clock tower and Jaffna public library

    The house itself is lovely. The rooms are off a central open courtyard. The staff were really helpful. The food good. The pool needs some maintenance. Considering the history of Jaffna and Sri Lanka generally the hotel and the staff provided a comfortable friendly environment.

    The location of Jaffna Heritage hotel is very good, 8mn by tuk-tuk to the train station/city center and only 2mn walking distance from the Nallur Temple. The breakfast buffet is nice and the staff pleasant. The place is extremely quiet from 22:00 hrs to 5:30 hrs.
