Enjoying views of Tissa Lake from all its modern rooms, The Safari is located in Tissamaharama. A 20-minute drive from Yala National Park, it has an outdoor pool with lake view and free Wi-Fi.

The property was poorly maintained. The telephone in the room was not working. Needed to walk a distance to the reception to request for anything that was required in the room. Toiletries were only provided on request. No running water in the morning for sometime and I was unable to take bath and brush teeth. When the water resumed, the pipes gushed out black sediments that soiled my clothes. Though the manager offered to provide free laundry, it was a bad experience that I wish to forget

Our stay at hotel river front was beyond all expectations. The hosts were super nice and helpfull. The food was great and the room was amazing! they arranged both our taxi, and a safari with a super nice guide: Channa. Would recomend this place to anyone wanting to go to Yala national park!

Beautifully located on the lake, with stunning lake views from the room and large swimming pool. The room was large and comfortable. The staff were so friendly and helpful, arranged our Safari for Yala which was brilliant. The food in the restaurant is delicious, which is handy as there are no other options!

Very nice and quiet area, close to nature, great lake view. Really cute cabanas, we really enjoyed relaxing in front of our small tree house. Very friendly and welcoming hosts, delicious dinner. A lot of mosquitoes and bugs due the lake nearby, no "real" windows, only a mosquito net above the bed, so bring mosquito spray with you. Unfortunately quite muddy water, so taking a shower wasn't the best experience. Booking a safari was not worthed for us, because there were way too many jeeps in the national park and we didn't see a lot of animals, which is a pity for the price we paid.

One of the closest location near to the national park. The family running the hotel is very hospitable. The tour they offer is reasonably priced and the driver very capable.

    We had such a nice stay! The staff was soo friendly and carring. They organized our safarie and made the best lush package we could imaging. Also the dinner and the fruitplates were so good! The view from the treehouse and also the lovely animals made our stay perfect.

    The owner of Serenity lake advices us to visit Yala safari, Sithul pawwa magul viharaya and sithul pawwa a super history with beautiful scenery, which we did and we're very grateful for his advice. We returned to the serenity lake to have lunch before heading off. Requested for a village kind of lunch with the local veggies and it was served on a lotus leaf... The most delicious meal it was. We had lunch at Reds and at the Serenity lake .

    The location is excellent and the resort is real value for money . The food was excellent . The rooms were nice . The toiletries in the bathrooms needs to improve . The bathroom needs exhaust fans as it can get quite stuffy . The resort manager Mr Upal is a nice friendly bloke and is exceptional in his service . Overall a very pleasant experience .

    This is a great location to stay if you want to visit the national parks and My Village will organise safaris to the four parks in the area either a half or full day. The local town is not a tourist town but it's great to wander around looking in the local shops.

    We were there the first time for safari.

    We were there the first time for safari. We had a tour to the Buddha by the sea…amazing. This time we were passing through on our way to Ella. We ate at Red Pizza which was just as good second time round.

    Was in Tissamaharama for Yala Safari, had booked the early morning Safari. Disappointed with the Safari as there were very few animals except.for.peacocks and spotted dear. Later into the ride our jeep driver and guide revealed we had entered through block 5 of the Safari and most the animals(Leopard, Bears) mostly are sighted in block 1 and 2. Block 1 and 2 were closed that day, maybe just our luck. So I guess check, with the Safari organizer before booking your safari as it quite expensive. Basically disappointed ☹️

    Very good base for safari to Yala or Bundala parks. I' went to Bundala as I've never been to park with big wetlands and I think it was a great choice. We've seen numerous types of birds, lizards, monkeys, jackals, mangooses, bufallos, crocodiles and also few elephants😊 I didn't stay in center of Tissa but still was able to find nice restaurants, like Smoky Kitchen (recommended).

    I can’t recommend staying at Tara Watergate enough. The rooms are big, bright, spacious with large windows looking out onto the lake. The room was very clean, beautifully air conditioned. The staff were incredibly attentive and warm. They kindly organised a safari for us which was the highlight of our trip. I left something behind and the hotel sent it by tuk tuk to me — I am so thankful. The food was the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka, the chefs are very talented. The pool is clean and very refreshing to cool off in.

    Amazing place. The owner was super helpful. He took me from the bus stop. He even took me to a restaurant and took me back to the hotel. Everything was so comfortable. The staff was so kind. Room was the cleanest compared to other places I stayed in Sri Lanka. They arranged a very nice safari tour. They also offer free bicycle so I could explore the area a bit. Best place to stay especially if you are a solo woman traveller.

    We stayed in a lot of beautiful accommodations during our trip in Sri Lanka but this hotel takes the cake, it’s such an amazing place. The staff is the sweetest, every morning they clean the entire property and pool. The food is excellent, they also catered to our 3 year old who is a picky eater. Couldn’t be happier, 10 out of 10
