Macau is the true east meets west philosophy. Buddhist temples coexist with Baroque churches, peaceful oriental parks are overshadowed by mega-casinos and cobblestone streets are filled with rickshaws.
Hong Kong’s neighbour across the Pearl River strait consists of the mainland that borders the People's Republic of China and 2 major islands joined by the Cotai Strip. Coloane island is a natural wonderland with its mountains and beaches, whereas Taipa includes Macau International Airport and residential suburbs.
The prominent Macau Tower dominates the skyline of this former Portuguese colony and denotes the coming of age of modern-day Macau. It has set the stage for an economic boom with Vegas-style casinos lining the Macau Peninsula waterfront.
Historic sites and cuisine are important factors in this shining tourism star of China. St. Paul’s Cathedral was the largest Catholic church in Asia at the time with its ruins dating back to the 16th century. The fusion of Mediterranean flavours and traditional Chinese cooking methods makes eating out in the capital an unforgettable experience.

Macau – A Colorful Mix of Cultures, Charm, and Warm Hospitality!
I last visited Macau ten years ago and always had a soft spot for it—but this time, I was truly stunned by the friendliness of the people. Wherever we went, we were warmly welcomed and received outstanding service.
Macau has it all: the luxury casino life, charming Portuguese old-town flair, tropical beach vibes, and even that bustling, Hong Kong-style city energy. I love the variety of cultures and the many languages spoken—Cantonese, Mandarin, Portuguese, and English all flow effortlessly here.
It’s an absolute shopping paradise—if you have the budget. But what I really appreciate is the mix: while high-end luxury is everywhere, you can also enjoy fantastic local food and drinks without breaking the bank.
What makes Macau special is how, within such a small area, you can travel through completely different worlds—from colonial streets to glittering skyscrapers, peaceful beaches to lively markets. It’s like several destinations wrapped into one.
Macau has clearly shifted its focus in recent years. While it used to focus primarily on casino tourism, they’re now doing a fantastic job attracting more family-oriented and cultural visitors. And I think they've done a great job. Bravo, Macau!

The casino side of the city is a glammed up doll, and tourists milling about wonder-struck! If you are into luxury goods, branded, premium items, this is your Mecca. You'll find a wide array of Asian food in the large food courts. But be prepared to pay top dollar for everything you consume, including water! There are only a few convenience stores if you need to buy some essentials, but they don't stock tea or coffee bags! Strange! Macau is a dream city, a candyland for those who love luxury and opulence.

Biggest drawback is a main arterial that runs the length of the waterfront and you and cars cannot cross except at both ends, and by walkers overpasses which are at both ends again. You have to be able to walk long distances when staying on the waterfront, or be prepared to take a taxi that has to go a roundabout way to get where you started. The city is very clean.

We stayed 2 nights in Macao during our Hong Kong trip which is just right. The old town is lovely and takes you back to the past and the Portuguese influence is everywhere. The pasteis de nata everywhere were delicious
We visited the new side just to see the mega casinos but half a day was plenty for that. The Venetian building is very impressive. We do not gamble the and found the atmosphere there very soulless

It is a quiet area and a nice view with a balcony, which is the whole point of booking it. Transportation is ok, bus stops nearby. Macau is a small city, many sites are within walking distance, 20 minutes. We walked to the west side of the main island for 45 minutes.
I am not a fan of fancy renovation, but it is nice to stay a few days in a luxury feel all over the hotel. It’s a vacation!
When we travel to Macau, we stay in this hotel most trips. It is very close to the city centre with many attractions and good restaurants nearby. The room is not big but is clean. The staff are very helpful. The Chinese restaurant in the ground floor is good for a dim sum breakfast.
Rooms are excellent for the money.
The property location is great!
OneBus operator has direct bus drop and pickup from this hotel to Hong Kong (Jordan station).
Frequent coaches are available to & fro to Ferry Terminals, HZMB port, and Macau Airport.
Location of hotel is walking distance to tourist sites (but there are closer hotels if that’s your purpose of staying in town). Free shuttle bus to the Macau port if you are taking a train to China.
