The property is located in a beautiful neighborhood in Birgu (one of the three cities facing Valletta). Access to Valletta is very easy by taking the ferry (the landing is a just a 10-minute walk from the apartment). There is also a public bus service which takes approximately 30 minutes to reach the capital. In Birgu we took long walks around the harbour and the marinas, and explored the traditional architecture and narrow streets in the historic centre. This location is also perfect for day trips to various historic sites in Malta since everything lies within a short distance. And there is plenty to see given Malta's rich history going back thousands of years. Also of note…. the property has a lovely terrace on top with sweeping views of the harbour and environs and is extremely quiet and peaceful at night. Highly recommended!

Birgu is very sweet, there is major work going on in the main square, but its almost over, and it will look great once its finished, the town will get back to normal. There are problems for cars because some of the access roads are closed for the square, our taxi got a bit lost trying to find the street!
There are little shops and quite a few restaurants, the waterfront is lovely. Its easy getting around, the buses are not far and the ferry is really fast. Altogether I can recommend Birgu for a good place to stay whilst in Malta.

If you travel to Malta then Birgu is a great place to stay.
If you travel to Malta then Birgu is a great place to stay. You can wander down to the marina and catch a ferry to Valletta or Gozo. You can check out the super yachts and have an inexpensive cocktail at happy hour on the waterfront. There are lots of old buildings to wander around. You can use Birgu as a base to explore other parts of the Maltese Islands, such as the Blue Grotto or the set of the Popeye movie.

I had time to stroll around some of the area with its narrow streets and good views of each part of the harbour. It was refreshingly peaceful and untouched although it is obviously having quite a bit of investment in the properties and streets, which is good to see.

Birgu is a walkable historic city where the Knights of St John first settled in 1530 and is full of interesting buildings such as the Inquisitor's Palace, Fort St Angelo and the Maritime Museum. The parish church on the main square is well worth a visit if open, with a large amount of Knights paraphernalia. There are many good bars and restaurants of all price ranges around the square and on the waterfront by the marina. It is easily reached in 10 mins from Valletta by the 3 Cities ferry found below the Barrakka lift, whereas the bus connections take much longer.

I have had fantastic help and advice back & forth from the owners for anything we have needed to know. Great transfers organised by her and lovely Marco! small studio room with enough facilities we needed for a short stay. We had top floor with amazing views of the harbour. Location is central and stunning. very quiet at night time. Reasonable priced.

Birgu is a great location to stay in Malta.
Birgu is a great location to stay in Malta. It is full of history with fabulous Churches, Museums (Maritime and War) and right on the waterfront. Getting to Valetta was easy on the 2 euro water taxis in a few minutes and the Barakia Lift takes you directly to the city.
