Vittoriosa – 18 hotels and places to stay

Located in Vittoriosa and within a 18-minute walk of Rinella Bay Beach, 50th Guest House features a terrace, non-smoking rooms, and free WiFi throughout the property.

The property is well located in historical area of Birgu, safe and calm. The hotel is well located and well done - the reception lady is very friendly and helpful but seems she does everything - cleaning and all maintainance - so cleaning is very poor - I asked to mop the floor as my socks got black the first day and she did - but she is alone there.

Housed in a historic building, Palazzino Birgu Host Family Bed and Breakfast provides accommodations with a bar and free Wifi in Vittoriosa, a 16-minute walk from Rinella Bay Beach.

Luxurious room and bath. Atmospheric palazzo, bathed in the warm tones of the local limestone. Quite beautiful. Hostess packed a picnic for us when it was impossible to enjoy the breakfast because of our tour in the morning. Wish we had more time there.

Overlooking the Mediterranean Sea in St Julian's, The Westin Dragonara Resort, Malta offers 2 private beaches, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, one of which is heated, and 3 restaurants.

The Seaview Suite with balcony was excellent. Kitchenette, comfy beds, great terrace. Buffet breakfast was excellent but VERY crowded. We needed to wait to get in both mornings we ate breakfast. The overall neighborhood of the hotel is not pretty but the resort itself is beautifully situated.

I just returned from a 17 days stay in this house, and I was really lucky with this find. You cannot find a better location in or around Valletta. The entire Vittoriosa is oozing with charm, with its narrow tiled streets just below the massive St. Angelo fortress at the end of the peninsula. I was all around the different parts of Valletta, and nothing beats Vittoriosa. It reminded me a bit of the old Jerusalem.

I am staying in Birgu for the second time.

I am staying in Birgu for the second time. A quiet, peaceful area, there are also cafes for those who want it, easy access to Valletta and other areas. For those who like to wander through the narrow streets, climb the steps, take in the views from the quays - this is the place for you.

More correctly called “Birgu”, the town is a far better place to stay than either Senglea, which is run down, or Valletta which is overcrowded. The small gondola ferries keep the hoards at bay and so Birgu is a pleasant place to be both during the day and evening. The waterfront restaurants, especially “Cargo” are excellent. The tiny streets behind the central square are beautiful at night. Recommended attractions are St Angelo’s Fort and the Inquisitor’s Palace. Secret tip: the executioner’s house is round the back, the unrestored building with the blue balcony. The only downsides are that there are no shops of any value in the town and you cannot park within the walls.

Vittoriosa and the Three cities isn't recommended for people out for partying, but if you like real old buildings in medival style, carved in sandstone, this is the right for you. The weekend before Christmas was fantastic, with music at the City square and Santa with wife in a sleigh. Christmas cribs in a lot of the houses in the medieval valleys... is really something to experience!
