Casa Cuyo was one of the best Hotels on our trip, comfortable room, good kitchen and wonderful garden. Also only 3 minutes to the beach and Carlos was really nice and helped us with anything! We would defenetly come back, thank you :)

Before even arriving to Nikau Hotel, we were in contact with them and had many questions resolved as in tours, massages etc. Once we arrived at the hotel, it was beautiful! Andrea and Adriana received us and gave us the run down of the hotel and El Cuyo. They accompanied to our room which is not seen that much anymore so that was appreciated. They gave us amazing recommendations for eating out which we didn't have time to visit many but will be back for sure to try more.
The breakfast had a variety of food and fresh fruit and juice!
Jairo our bartender made awesome cocktails, we recommend the mezcalita.
Every detail in the rooms and hotel were spot on.
Overall, the staff and the attention was exactly what we were looking for.
We will be back!!

Location is perfect. Just 2 mins walking from the beach. 5 mins from town. El Cuyo is a small town out from big noise, big hotels. This is a place to rest and to enjoy the kilometers of white sand along the beach

This place is perfect for those who want to get away from it all. Super clean, great staff, excellent food (though a bit on the pricey side), and steps from the beach. Lots of great places to eat nearby as well. View from rooftop restaurant was stunning. Would definitely stay here again.

El Cuyo is a small fishing village 3 hours from Playa del Carmen on the Gulf of Mexico. It is an adorable place with friendly locals and the beach is amazing. The only negative thing is that food is on the more expensive side for a small town and the roads to get there have potholes and lots of topos as you go through the little towns through the jungle. Better not to drive it at night.

I loved the beach, the only thing I didn't like is that people don't have the education to put the garbage in its place. This way you find garbage in any space on the beach, you step on lids, bags and this is very ugly since soon The boardwalk will look unpleasant.

El Cuyo is a small sleepy town with a just few hotels and no crowds. There's no shopping or night life. What you do find there, however, is quite a few restaurants and cafes that offer amazing local food. What else? Rent a bike to toot around for a day, go fishing with a local guide, take kite surfing lessons, or just lay on the beach and listen to the waves. If you are looking for a tranquil escape from your busy life, this is your kind of place.

Small, cozy and completely opposite of the Cancun type of village :) I love the area, not so many people, tourists, very cozy and nice restaurants and hotels around, maybe not so much options for shopping though, but what is top top is people and nature! Tip from me: learn basic words in spanish. It is different world, when you can talk to them and they see you trying or asking "habla usted ingles por favor"?
Getting around - everything is reaching by foot. But if you are lazy walking - consider renting a car or moped. I doubt they have car rentals there (not sure though), but reg. moped - I would just ask locals.
I would firstly book few days and see if I like it. e.g. we extended our stay for few more days. We loved that there are no loud music, clubs and etc., but rather natural environment.
Beaches - are amazing! White soft sand and blue ocean and palms... mmm so good to remember :)

Superb beach stretching for miles, popular with kite surfers and great for swimming in the waves (but not snorkelling). Best place for bird watching in Yucutan (probably). Some really high quality local restaurants, serving Mexican and Italian food.

Unless you are a kite boarder there is not a lot to do, it's a place to read a book and relax. However, you are going to pay for that luxury. The restaurants are expensive (for good reason, but it's still the truth) and some of the hotels are way overpriced for what you get. However, it is very nice to be in such a chill place for a few days . Two nights seems sufficient, but it depends on your desires.
