Izamal – 37 hotels and places to stay

Hotel San Miguel Arcangel is located in Izamal. Featuring a garden, the 3-star hotel has air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, each with a private bathroom.

A small very calm oasis in the middle of Izamal . We keep returning to this hotel as it's so secluded & pleasing. Breakfast is superb & the staff is very helpful. If you're after Guayaberas, please do visit Kimbilá - It's worth the short drive.

Located in the small town of Izamal, this beautiful Mexican-style hotel features an outdoor swimming pool and views of San Anotnio de Padua Convent. It offers guided tours and free Wi-Fi in the lobby....

Very clean, amazing location close to the city centre, fairly quiet, staff allowed us to check in 3 hours early which we really appreciated! Amazing shower, plenty of soap/fresh towels. The pool is great and bath towels are right there on the lounge chairs waiting for you. Absolutely beautiful common areas! Strong WiFi signal, good AC.

This was our second stay at the Izamal Plaza. We had a beautiful, comfortable room, enjoyed the rooftop sitting area and appreciated the secure parking. The location is perfect for walking to shops, restaurants and exploring the Yellow City,

Situated in Izamal, Hotel Hacienda de Izamal offers 3-star accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, a garden and a terrace.

This is one of my all time favorite hotels. I have stayed here numerous times. The setting is lovely. It is always clean. The staff is very helpful! I had car troubles on one of my stays and the staff even helped me by calling a mechanic to come for my car. Overall, this hotel is one of my favorite places to stay!

Nice little town 70 km away from Merida.

Nice little town 70 km away from Merida. Izamal is connected by Oriente & Centro bus line and Maya Train/Tren Maya from Cancun and Merida. Train station is Kimbila, 12 km away. City of 3 cultures like Maya, Colonial, Modern times. Visited by Saint Paul II on a pastoral visit in August 1993, Ancient Maya pyramids, Colonial architecture, excellent restaurants and eateries with local dishes, Yucatan Henequen handicrafts, Henequen & Mezcal distillery, local museum, Monastery San Antonio de Padua with it's famous Blessed Virgin "Our Lady of Izamal " (she is magic and wondersome). Local Mercado with delicious Maya dishes like Cochinita Pibil (pulled pork in Achiote sauce), Morcilla (blood sausage), fried empanadas and longaniza, various taco dishes, local pasta dishes, venado (wild game), freshly baked barras (Yucatecan baguette) and sweat breads, fresh meats, cheeses, poultry, local fruits & veggies, herbs and local Mayan honey (excellent quality and inexpensive). Izamal is served by friendly, bi-lingual tour guides like Jose Carrillo Gonzales and others. Tour guides give local tours and they usually are available for a same day booking at the Monastery grounds.

Izamal is a lovely place to visit.

Izamal is a lovely place to visit. We had great food there, walk around and visited the pyramid. We also did a carriage ride around the city. Our guide was very informative about all the temples and apparently we stayed in the first hotel ever build in Izamal so we were told.

A gorgeous and photogenic city that feels much smaller than it is. It doesn’t feel touristy at all. There’s a pyramid in the middle of town that you can climb for free. The carriage driver I used was very personable and knowledgeable.

This colonial town is a must when exploring the Yicatan.

This colonial town is a must when exploring the Yicatan. It is clean safe and charming. There is a nice little museum in the square and a small craft market each day. There are romantic tours of the town by horse and carriage. The highlight is Convento de San Antonio. It is painted totally in yellow ( as is the town ) and is a stunning photograph moment.

Izamal is a lot more than just the famous yellow Convent.

Izamal is a lot more than just the famous yellow Convent. It's a great town to walk around and it was very surprising to find an amazing Mayan Pyramid just 2 blocks from the town centre, and more amazing to have the whole site to yourself!

I stayed in Izamal for two nights which was the perfect amount of time. There are quite a few Mayan pyramids and chapels scattered throughout the town that are easy to walk to-and-from. The main sight is Convento San Antonio de Padua. Be sure to visit on a Sunday when the church is open.

Izamal is a delightful small town and this hotel is located right on the central plaza. The room was spacious with good aircon, a large bathroom with well functioning amenities. The hotel is stylishly appointed and exudes a feel of classic colonialism, almost like a hacienda. Very close-by is the best food (Restaurante Los Arcos) I had during 9 days in the 4 Yucatan states.

This is a very quirky old hotel in a charming town. Right on main square. Lovely courtyard, eclectic art collection and fantastic craft shop. Front rooms in older part not mosquito proof but you get beams and a balcony to absorb the atmosphere. Felt a bit like we’d stepped into Room with a View Mexican style.

Lovely staff, nice grounds with large pool, very close to everything! The restaurant at the hotel next door (where you check-in) was a great breakfast spot with view of the convento.

Perfect location just a few blocks and 5 minute walk from the city centre. The hotel is in fact a multi-building complex, tucked away in a tropical forest setting. Very genuine.
