Izamal is a lovely place to visit.
Izamal is a lovely place to visit. We had great food there, walk around and visited the pyramid. We also did a carriage ride around the city. Our guide was very informative about all the temples and apparently we stayed in the first hotel ever build in Izamal so we were told.

A gorgeous and photogenic city that feels much smaller than it is. It doesn’t feel touristy at all. There’s a pyramid in the middle of town that you can climb for free. The carriage driver I used was very personable and knowledgeable.

This colonial town is a must when exploring the Yicatan.
This colonial town is a must when exploring the Yicatan. It is clean safe and charming. There is a nice little museum in the square and a small craft market each day. There are romantic tours of the town by horse and carriage. The highlight is Convento de San Antonio. It is painted totally in yellow ( as is the town ) and is a stunning photograph moment.

Izamal is a lot more than just the famous yellow Convent.
Izamal is a lot more than just the famous yellow Convent. It's a great town to walk around and it was very surprising to find an amazing Mayan Pyramid just 2 blocks from the town centre, and more amazing to have the whole site to yourself!

I stayed in Izamal for two nights which was the perfect amount of time. There are quite a few Mayan pyramids and chapels scattered throughout the town that are easy to walk to-and-from. The main sight is Convento San Antonio de Padua. Be sure to visit on a Sunday when the church is open.

Izamal is a good stop for one night between Mérida and Valladolid. I enjoyed my stay at Buenosdias Izamal.
It is a nice house located a few blocks away from the main square, easily walkable in around 10 min. Staff is super friendly, there is a nice pool and some cute dogs on the premises. Free water and coffee are provided. My room was simple but clean and spacious. There is good wifi and a TV with streaming services. I'd definitely stay here again when visiting Izamal.
Hotel Tuul is a great place to lodge while visiting Izamal. The place is gorgeous, has a great pool, and very nice garden with parasols and chairs. Very comfy and clean rooms. Super friendly staff. I enjoyed my stay thoroughly, even if it was just for the one day.
Very good hotel. Perfect location, big room with comfortable beds. The style for me European guy was really different and I like it as the city of Izamal as well. We all were under huge impression of this area.
Nice place, nice pool, good WiFi, good A/C - the employee of the hôtel did not speak English and did not know why there was electricity cut and the duration.
