This was our second stay and it was just as wonderful as the first time. Our room had a nice view of the ocean, a large shower, and comfortable bed. Breakfast was wonderful- we enjoyed Jorge (he pronounces it Georgy)

Victor and his family were amazing. Clean rooms comfortable beds, excellent internet, and a fair price. They helped me get laundry done, and we're there to answer any questions I had about Mazatlan. Inexpensive breakfast if you want it. Just a gem of a place

A very busy city, lots of traffic noise on the Malecon.
A very busy city, lots of traffic noise on the Malecon. After staying 10 days in Cerrito and 10 days on the Malecon, I would not choose either again.Traffic noise is loud on the Malecon, too loud for converastion oon decks or pool deck. The Cerrito area is quiet, great beaches but a little to far out for walking to a variety of restaurants. Either end of the Malecon or Central or old town will be my next stay.

Loved Mazatlan, great bus service and great restaurants.
Loved Mazatlan, great bus service and great restaurants.
Very clean downtown and long beaches to take long walks.
Lots of birds to enjoy, and lots of little shops. Very enjoyable place.
No safety concerns, just be aware and do not flaunt wealth.
We stayed in 3 areas, Cerritos (not alot of restaurants, very quiet), golden zone closer to downtown (alot of construction, but can bus or walk everywhere) Downtown, old town, (lots of great restaurants and cafes but still within walking distance to beach). Each has their merrit.

A lot of Canadians or Americans if you are concerned.
A lot of Canadians or Americans if you are concerned. Many restaurants. The local buses are easy to use ($13Pesos). Taxis or Pumilas are very available and not that expensive. There is also Uber and Didi which are also very easy to use.
We were in Cerritos, a bit out of town and the Golden Zone so we mostly ate at local places like Roy's, TacoTime, Henri's Tacos, Chili's Pepper. We enjoyed all of them and the price is great.
We hired a local driver to take us to El Quelite, La Noria, El Rosario, and Concordia. Some interesting architecture in these small towns. Something else to do. We did see the Cartel a few times, but no one bothered us.

I would avoid using booking.com as the agent to rent a place to stay. We were double booked and had no place to stay and we still haven't gotten a refund.
We went to Mazatlan for the total eclipse. and the city is beautiful. we had rented cars so getting around was easy.
Mexico in general is a great place to visit but it is no longer inexpensive.

Very friendly hosts who let us check in early after arrival with a night bus, great location in a quiet street yet super central, spacious room (it's bigger than it looks on the pictures). The shower had hot water and good pressure, AC worked well, there is access to a fridge and microwave + free coffee, and wifi was good. We got our laundry done for 100 pesos, and it came back cleaner than it usually does from lavanderías. All in all we were very happy to stay here and would definitely come back next time we're in Mazatlán!
The hotel's central location on the popular Plaza Machado is fantastic. This is a lovely area to visit boutiques and restaurants, and even easily walk to Playa Olas Altas. The hotel staff are very friendly and gracious. Our room on the ground floor was more quiet than we expected, given the hotel's location. The beds were comfortable, the linens were clean. The hotel patio, lobby, and pool area are very pretty.
We were on an eclipse tour with my fiancée’s undergraduate group, completed that organized segment of our time and wanted to move away from the Americanized hotel area. So, as I did in the 1970s, I sought out another tegion of Mazatlan. The hotel was excellent and we were told of two superb nearby restaurants.
Comfortable beds, great location, amazing view. They also hosted an event for people coming to see the eclipse on the hotel roof which was quite well done (for an extra fee).
