The breakfast was excellent, cooked to order. The staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. Rooms in the back are small, front rooms with balcony are much bigger and more comfortable with a nice view of the mountains. Splurge on a balcony room. Pool was nice. Location was great, we walked all over town.

The place is great value for money. Perfect location, clean spacious room (mine had a large balcony from which I could see the Tepozteco and mountain range), great staff and tons of freebies (drinks and bfast).
BUT!
there is a dog next door that BARKS all night!!! I tried headphones, ear plugs….nothing would work! and it’s not a few barks here abs there, it’s all night!
This hotel MUST do something about the neighbors dog or replace all the windows with triple pane. there’s tons of windows btw which is great during the day when the dog presumably sleeps.

We were there for a family wedding, which was a delightful 3 day celebration. Many good restaurants and shops. We recommend La Ciruela restaurant and Los Colorines in particular. I am bilingual so I can't comment on language problems. Re shopping, be aware that there is a lot poor quality cheap stuff, but good quality textiles, beaded jewelry and minerals/crystals were good buys. Also, I bought ground(powdered) mole in the market to bring home. Agustina had 6 varieties and let me sample them all. Gabriel's taxi service was wonderful for getting us to and from Mexico City and the wedding venues. Very safe, reliable and reasonable cost. Be aware that walking involves rough cobblestone streets and steep hills.

Tepoztlan is an enchanting place: colorful, beautiful, relaxing and historically interesting. Climbing to the summit of El Tepozteco was definitely challenging for us (both seniors,) but we made it and it was quite thrilling to gaze at the landscape below. We really liked wandering in the lovely former Dominican Convent which was built in around 1530. The street markets were great, particularly impressive were the handmade textiles. We were told about the ice cream in advance -- there are several big ice cream parlours on the main street -- and it is really good and comes in every imaginable flavour.

We can see the appeal for people seeking hiking and other outdoor adventures. Sadly for us, we were there on a Monday, and although we hiked to the lookout, it was closed at the top. The main attraction, the convent was also closed. This left little to do, apart from wander the streets, which are mostly restaurants. It was lovely, and we enjoyed out visit, however in the scope of our entire Mexico trip we felt the time could have been better spent elsewhere. Nevertheless, the mountains are beautiful.

I did not enjoy my stay in tepoztlan.
I did not enjoy my stay in tepoztlan. This town does not provide with the basics to have a reasonable vacation. Streets are old and falling in pieces! The streets have no names and the GPS system does not function. I had a rental that caused me more troubles than solutions. We couldn't get from point a to b because GPS did not take us anywhere. We had to pay a taxi to guide us, which caused us more spending than anything.

I would have liked to have stayed 1 or 2 more nights.
I would have liked to have stayed 1 or 2 more nights. It's a beautiful and vibrant town with old town charm. The views are spectacular. Everyone is so friendly. There is plenty to do. I was unable to go hiking or go to the pyramids due to an ankle injury, therefore I have an excellent "excuse" to return.

The market here is great. This cobblestoned town is very nice and walkable. The views of the mountains are very nice. Many eating options and places to shop or just hang out. There are some good hikes in the area.

Tepoztlán is a magical place and what makes this experience even more amazing are the people that work or stay at this beautiful hostel. If you are lucky and Santi from Argentina still works there, do yourself a huge favour and get a massage from him. It is not any ordinary massage, it´s a therapy from a wonderful person who really knows what he is doing.
