Offering an outdoor pool and a restaurant, Casa Cabana Beach is located in Vilanculos by the beachfront. Free WiFi access is available.

The owner and management team were amazing. I arrived later than expected and after the restaurant closed, but they very kindly made some delicious buttered chicken. They went out of their way and above and beyond.

Featuring free WiFi and a restaurant, Baobab Beach Vilanculos offers accommodation in Vilanculos, 300 metres from Supermarket Yussuf Aisha.

A fabulous stay at Baobab Beach, the cottage was right on the beach with a beautiful view, spacious, well appointed and really comfortable with a wonderful sit-out area. The hotel also has a nice bar and restaurant on site with great food and a wonderful ambience, The staff is very helpful and I must commend the manager, who takes time out regularly to check-up on the guests is very solicitous and helpful. Though my diving plans were kinda ruined by a cyclone, however I quite enjoyed relaxing here and would love to back when the weather is a bit better.

Located in Vilanculos, Archipelago Resort features an outdoor swimming pool, garden and free WiFi is offered in public areas.

Archipelago is truly one of the most incredible places you could ever hope to visit. The casas are charming, large and spacious with air conditioning and a fantastic kitchen as well as a lovely veranda with the most beautiful view of the ocean. The staff are without a doubt the best team of staff I have ever encountered at and place I’ve ever stayed. They are friendly and ready to help and do their absolute best to accommodate your needs! Everything we ordered from the restaurant was absolutely delicious and plated well. The activities on offer are just brilliant - we did two horse rides with Mozambique Horse Safaris which is only a couple of minutes walk away. We absolutely loved every second of our stay and would recommend it to anyone. I very much look forward to returning to Archipelago and really feel that it’s an incredible gem of a place.

Situated a few steps from Vilankulos Beach, Vila la Mar Vilanculo features accommodation with an outdoor swimming pool, a garden and free shuttle service for your convenience.

This self-catering place was a perfect choice for our time in Vilanculos (before and after a sailing trip in the area). The sea facing villas are absolutely amazing, with a marvellous deck to watch the sun rise and a beautiful attic sleeping area perfect for kids. The owners Lida and Christo were extremely helpful, they picked us up and took us back to the airport and they provided very valuable advice when LAM cancelled our flight back to Maputo. We also ate at Kilimanjaro Café - also owned by Lida and Christo - a couple of times and the food was really nice.

    Typical of Mozambique.

Typical of Mozambique. It's a poor area so if you are prepared for rural surrounds you will not be disappointed. Locals are friendly and the lodge took us shopping for provisions as and when we needed it. Great place to relax. Super diving, snokelling, fishing and swimming. Very close to the islands.

Definitely recommend. It's a beautiful place. Vilanculos is very laid back, natural and authentic. The beaches are amazing, delicious local food and some great outdoor activities to do. Visiting the islands like Bazaruto is highly recommended. These areas are truly pristine and the snorkeling along two mile reef is awesome. I would say more or less 6 days is enough time in the area. We went in September (not in season) and sometimes it would just be us on the beach with one or two other people.

Access to a number of beach resorts and restaurants, with day trips to the islands and coral reef make this a must- see. The town itself has a large upmarket supermarket with exceptional selection, loads of smaller shops selling a wide range of goods, locally crafted items, banks, atm etc

I would suggest you bring SA Rand (a lot of it) and exchange it as you go at the shops as most card machines and ATM’s do not work then you can get stuck without cash unless you stay at Ocean Pearl Beach Lodge. They always helped us get cash when it seemed impossible

The managers of the hotel Patricia & Joao were amazing.

The managers of the hotel Patricia & Joao were amazing. Constantly going above and beyond for any requests I had. They welcomed me like family. The accommodation is great & clean. The food was delicious. Sometimes the service was a little slow but worth the wait. The staff are always keen & willing to do anything you request of them. These hosts are simply amazing & really look after their clients. I can highly recommend staying here short or long term

Vilankulo is geared toward tourists that are spending Dollars or Euros. All of the activities are at least $100. If you want to relax on the beach, I suggest staying out of town at one of the lodges. There are quite a few vendors on the beach in Vilankulo, and it is difficult to even go for a walk without being asked if you want to buy something.
