If you’re looking for tranquility and a bit of historical setting and cultural vibes, Abeokuta gives you all these, easily. No horrendous traffic like Lagos, so you can do a lot
more in a day or short stay. Taxis are cheap and affordable. Lots to do and visit - fabric markets, Olumo Rock, Presidential Library, the Alake Palace and homes of famous Egba indigenes - The Ransome Kuties, MKO Abiola etc. if you’re a bit more adventurous , there are lots of little villages surrounding Abeokuta that are a delight to visit and experience rural life. I can’t say enough about the food - authentic and delicious - all totally affordable. The best Ofada rice and stews are in Abeokuta, trust me! Definitely my favourite place to relax in Nigeria, for now.

I love the serenity. Abeokuta is quite clean. The people are easy going as well. It feels safe.
They don't have enough supermarkets but the local market has almost all that I wanted. The roads are well tarred too. In a nutshell my experience was a sweet one

We enjoyed our meal at the Mayfair Executive in a serene and posh atmosphere. It was not crowded and card was accepted for payment.
Another stop was the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential library Wildlife park (OOPL), saw lions, hyenas, pythons, .
Bamboo groove is a relaxation spot in the OOPL and as the name suggests , bamboos are the natural vegetation.
Driving around Abeokuta was easy and smooth
