The place is exceptional, beautifully restored barn 5 years ago, the host Els was lovely , she made an exceptional breakfast laid out on the big table in the middle of the room so everybody could help their self. the rooms were stunning, we stayed in the green room which has its own electric fireplace which was lovely in the evening to take the chill out of the room. The whole barn has underfloor heating. The beds are huge with huge pillows you sink in as if they are cotton wool. Overall great place

Dinner was terrific, as I would expect from a Michelin starred restaurant. The sommelier was extremely knowledgeable and we took the opportunity to taste wines that we had never heard of. We had a room upgrade to a room in the main building rather than the coach house, which was welcome as it rained for most of our stay.

The location of the hotel is perfect. Smack in the middle of a very pittoresque village. We could park the car right in front of the hotel, which was a definite plus. Breakfast was good with deliciously fresh breads. Staff courteous and friendly.

Eck and wiel is right in the middle of the Betuwe which is...
Eck and wiel is right in the middle of the Betuwe which is the fruit area of Holland. Sadly when we were there (end March) the blossoms were not out yet . The village Amerongen right across the river Rijn is your typical cute Dutch village with a real working windmill and a restored castle for which you need to book a ticket in advance.
As were were there before the season, everywhere was nice a quiet but judging by all the camping signs and bike routes during the summer it will be very very busy in the whole area of Holland.
We also recommend you book a table in a restaurant , we went to Rhenen and ate at de Konibg van Denemarken. Fantastic place, great admosfere, large space but felt very cosy. Food was perfect; no frills just good steak and chips. Wide range of food choices but all ‘normal’ food. Great!
