Akaroa is beautiful. The hospitality and people are excellent - such a shame they have lost thousands of cruise ship visitors to nearby ports. It is a lovely seaside town with a great bakery, a few restaurants and a reasonable beach. The Akaro Beachfront motel is the best place to stay. Akaroa is a beautiful quaint seaside town. Has a lovely harbour surrounded by hills. Only 1.5 hours from Christchurch so it is great for a mini break away. There is lots to do from being very active to just enjoying the peace and quiet of the area.Guest review byJudithNew Zealand
