High Peaks is in a good position just outside the small town of Fox Glacier, and is easy to find. My contact with staff was very limited, but everyone was friendly and helpful. Room was spacious, clean and had a comfortable bed, and the bathroom was excellent.

Loved the quiet room, sheep across the drive and farm setting. The food at breakfast was over the top as the host has a great touch in preparing her breads and spreads. Enjoy the quirky area and definitely take it all in at the Ross Hotel.

Fox Glaciers was a high point in our Kiwi journey!
Fox Glaciers was a high point in our Kiwi journey! We were impressed with its natural beauty and majestic scenery. The Fox Glacier Lodge played a key role in ensuring us a pleasant and relaxing experience in one of the South Island’s most attractive places. We highly recommend Fox Glacier Lodge to those who plan to spend a few days in exploring the fantastic Fox Glaciers / Joseph Glaciers’ many attractions. Oh, did we mention the helicopter tours?

Fox Glacier is very small, just a few motels and a couple of eateries, but is a good base for seeing the sights e.g. Fox Glacier and Lake Matheson. Need a car. Franz Josef is the nearest town (slightly larger) which is half an hour away... more choice if eateries and accommodation.

The townsite of Fox Glacier is small, but with a good variety of eating places, including the pub. The glacier itself has retreated significantly since I was last there almost 40 years ago. You can also get good views of the mountains in the Westland Tai Poutini National Park by driving about 10km from the townsite along a dirt track (Cook Flat Road).

Absolutely amazing location to visit, a must see, the rain forest is stunning and opens up to the huge mountains and magnificent glacier. The 40 minute walk is perfect, full of stunning rain forest and sounds of birds, opens up to glorious views of the glacier.

Fox Glacier is a lovely, small town and I highly recommend it. The people are friendly, and the area is beautiful. The walk around Lake Matheson was gorgeous, and the Glacier viewpoints are well worth seeing - make sure you take the Moraine Track on the way, winding through absolutely breathtaking rainforest. Probably my favourite place we visited on the west coast.
Food is expensive due to how isolated it is, but you'll be so happy to be there it's worth it for supporting the local businesses.

Fox Glacier is quite stunning, walk is relatively easy to first viewing point, we didn't get any further due to bad weather. Lovely eating places in town and a grocery store. Quite a small town so very quiet. We weren't there long enough to really explore the area

This place is conveniently located. I Loved that Ann was so engaging, warm and friendly. Being a local, she had extensive knowledge of the history of Fox Glacier and the community.. The kitchen, lounge and the room was thoughtfully decorated and spacious. The deck of perfectly facing the mountains and the sunset which is an ideal way to the finish your day. It's a must visit town and backpacker hostel.
Simple full fournished place. Ideal to stay if visiting Fox Glacier. You can also find glow worms by night at a crazy rain forest next to it by night. Magical experience !
