The accommodation is clean and the staff friendly. However, potential clients should be sure that they understand exactly what is, and especially what isn't supplied. It is a very old building, shared toilets and bathrooms and no TV, A/C. One window didn't shut completely. If you are OK with that and the price is right, then you will get exactly what you pay for. A very clean, basic room

Breakfast was lovely - freshly baked shortbread beautiful and as it turned a little cold it was lovely
to light the fire which warmed the cottage. Wonderfully welcoming and comfortable and every
need was met.

This was a very pretty little place in an absolutely lovely location. SInce it was a last minute booking in the holiday season and not even the town we had wanted to stay in I think we did very well. I liked the very casual atmosphere and the friendliness of the owners and their family.
Lovely pretty town full of history. Good to walk up and down the Main Street (both sides) and poke in all the shops. Great number of cafes to choose from as well.
Have drinks at the friendly Greytown Pub or the Club opposite the White Swan hotel.
Gorgeous aperatifs/wine in Aperatif plus gorgeous tasty tapa style meals. Go in and treat yourself (wear long pants and mozzie spray if sitting outside).
Breakfast in Offerings looked good plus huge brekkies in Cahoots. Try the scrambled eggs. Yum!
The shops are unique; have a great variety of knick knacks; books; clothes; craft; art; etc. The Hospice shop is a curated gem.

Greytown has a lot to offer.
Greytown has a lot to offer. Greytown's main street is a good example for other small towns to follow. There are plenty of reasons to stop. From the architecture to the variety of shops. Good food. Nice people.

Charming wee town with good restaurants.
Charming wee town with good restaurants. Good shopping for things like antiques - but limited in number. A day (or two) and an overnight would be about right here unless you have something specific to go for. Can be hot in summer. But quite nice all year round.

Greytown offers great little bars, cafes and restaurants.
Greytown offers great little bars, cafes and restaurants. Some great little shops to wander round and the little chocolate shop. Easy access to Martinborough venues. Featherstone, just a few minutes drive has great book shops too.
Visited NZ Stonehenge, which was a lovely trip to do.
No real downs on Greytown really. We enjoy visiting for a few days every couple of years

Greytown is a great little historic town in New Zealand,...
Greytown is a great little historic town in New Zealand, with a variety of wonderful shops and often a market. The shops include clothing, homewares, handmade items (art, clothing, woodware, souvenirs). One of the heritage shops is "Blackwells"; this is a must-do. Park at the start of the village on the main road and walk up one side and back down the other. You will find funky cafes and a delicious French bakery with pastries to tempt you. The White Swan pub has an excellent menu, with a variety of snacks through to full meals. You can sit on the balcony in the sun or under the umbrellas. The Staff there are very welcoming.
Take note of the enormous gum tree in the church yard on the main road. Read the story about its planting.
Greytown is on the tourist route along with other towns which are similar. If you are travelling from Masterton to Featherston you will also pass through Carterton. These towns have a wealth of NZ history, so take the time to stop and read up on how these towns came to be. You may also like the Fell Locomotive Museum in Featherston.

There were a interesting variety of shops.
There were a interesting variety of shops. Sadly most seem to close by 4pm, so get there early to shop. There was a range of places to eat but some do not open every day. We drove south towards Wellington vis Remutaka Hill with the mountain to our side. If you drive up from Wellington you will have the drop and it can be pretty scared.
