It had everything you needed. Kitchen, WiFi, bathroom were great. Beds were comfortable too. Very quiet too! I liked that it’s less than 5 mins away from the lakes. Nice getaway for the weekend

Right on the best beach in New Zealand! Very cozy and comfortable home, comfy beds, with ample space to enjoy the beautiful view of the beach. Easy access to the beach - by walking or driving on the beach. Homemade treats awaited our arrival. The area was quiet and peaceful. Lance has done a great job keeping the house super clean and welcoming for all guests and put a lot of thought into our stay and making sure we felt welcome and had all the information.
Just 1312 feet from the Northern Wairoa River, Hobson's Choice Motel offers studios and apartments with a kitchenette and outdoor patio.

The room was very spacious, clean and well laid out. Although we didn't need the kitchen facilities, it had a nice area to prepare, store and refridgerate food along with a sizable sink to wash dishes. Highly recommend going to the Kauri Museum just south about 45 minutes.

We enjoyed the massive grass area around the property looking at nature, baby rabbits, cows, horses, birds, frogs, insects and were very safe. The property well back away from the road so there were no security or any noise at all, other than nature.
The host was very accommodating and helpful with quick communication. We were looking for a casual get away for our 9 & 6 year-old kids, near the Kaiwi Lakes with Wi-Fi for a little work over the break.
My wife and I are not campers, we enjoyed the hot shower, full kitchen, BBQ and running water. On the one day it rained all our stuff was dry. We even used the washing machine.
A short 2 min drive down to the lake each morning with a packed lunch was so simple for us. At sunset we sat out for BBQ in the sunset chairs overlooking the ocean where the water meets the sky "stunning every night".

So wonderful being in the middle of a Kauri Forest with the river running through it. The only sound you could hear apart from the birds. A beautiful place to stay. Wish we had another night to unwind there.

This is a cabin in a holiday park rather than a motel. The grounds are exceptional and the staff very aware of the native fauna and flora; an experience not to be missed. You need to carry in your own food as the nearest hotel (Kaihu) has limited hours.
