The view is wonderful and the outside spa bath lovely. It is very quiet and peaceful. The facilities were ok in what is an older style cottage

We very much enjoyed a comfortable stay with Janice and Kevin at Taipa Views B&B.
They could not be more warm, welcoming and helpful. A very lovely couple who were attentive but also discreet.
The apartment is private, self contained, spotlessly clean and well maintained, with all mod cons. In particular, after weeks of travel, the washing machine and drying line were very convenient and we loved the views from the garden.
Janice and Kevin have also prepared the most useful information pack full of local recommendations. This was very much appreciated. The B&B is located very conveniently for exploring Cape Reinga and the local area. We loved Rarawah Beach and also Manganui.
After our departure, Janice phoned. They had received a card for me from the UK for Mothering Sunday! Huge thanks to them both for going to all the trouble of forwarding to a future stop! xxx

Fulfilled our needs and ideally situated for our trip in Northland.
Featuring a restaurant, bar and views of sea, Ahipara Bay Motel is located in Ahipara, 1.1 miles from Shipwreck Bay Beach. The hotel features family rooms.
Kaitaia is a good point to get around the far north.
Kaitaia is a good point to get around the far north. However, the dinner choices were few and when we did get a Chinese take-aways, it was not very good. The public toilets was not clearly indicated but were clean. The township is quite rundown, due mainly to the Gorge being made passable again - it took three years! We felt sorry for the business people and also just the residents trying to keep connected with the rest of New Zealand. A couple of EV charging stations but the one outside the Warehouse needs fixing up. Across the road was one that was most efficient.

Service desk staff were the most awesome thing about the place.
Having 2 children stay in my room the water didnt stay hot so having to bath them was unsettling because the water was lukewarm/cold and when removing the sheets the leg of the bed fell off. I also booked a second room and that room was riddled with ants. My teenage children had to pull the beds away from the wall so they could sleep. We were attending my mother inlaws funeral and we only needed a place to sleep but its not worth the price

Pretty much the last most populated city in Northland if youre heading further north to Cape Reinga. Kaitaia is a great little city. Hub of traditional Maori culture & people. good place. Near Ahipara & Shipwreck bay, one of the best off the beaten path surf spots in all of NZ

Peek a Boo Backyard Eatery is a cool upbeat urban feel, eco friendly place to eat. I sat there for 3 hours at a comfortable table indoors, doing work from my laptop, enjoying a pot of ginger, lemon and Manuka honey tea.
The guys at the Z petrol station on the main drag were exceptionally accomodating, when I placed a hot drinks order for 6 people, ahead of my afternoon meeting.
The mobil station has a brilliant self car wash with a high powere water gun.

Kaitaia is a great base for visiting the far north and places like Ahipara and the 90 Mile Beach. It is a laid back place that definitely is not touristy.
I was cooked the best breakfast I've ever had at Kā Uri in Awanui 6kms down the road.

The staff is super helpful and friendly! The rooms are big and have all the cooking utilities to ensure a comfortable stay - it remains a proper apartment rather than a room in a motel! Very spacious and comfy! The swimming pool is amazing for the hot days and my child really enjoyed the trampoline! the price is great!
This motel is great value for money. It is well located on the main street of Kaitaia. The room was very close to the photos shown. It was very clean and had all the basics you need. The spa and pool are both a nice addition.
Comfortable facilities. Accomodating, when I had to pick up two extra teenage Travellers.. Excellent Managerial service. Former resident of Awanui area for 36 years. I definitely recommend this lodge to small families.
Convenient for our visit as we were up from Auckland for a nephew's wedding. Staying at Kauri Lodge relieved my mum's place as other family members stayed with her for the weekend and gave us our own space.
Excellent greeting from the owner, great breakfast,we've stayed in a lot of hotels, motels that was a first to be served breakfast which was OK but I would prefer to serve myself.
