Returning costumers - stayed there already a couple of times in 2024.
Perfect location and setting for our small group, only a short drive to the Moeraki Boulders and the beach is only a 15-20 minutes walk from there. Quiet and specious, walking distance to the town center and shops - dinner is available from the corner pub 2 minutes across the road. Very friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommended.

We were travelling through Moeraki as part of a long road trip of the South Island, and this cute tiny stay appeared in the search. It's in a great location, has everything one would need, and best of all - there are two highland cows in a paddock right behind it. For some reason these became my favourite things on the NZ trip.

The location was perfect. Everything was sparkling clean with special wee touches, e.g, fresh flowers and welcome note.

It's a very special place to have crayfish and fresh fish at the Fish Wife. It's the only reason we travel and stay at Moeraki. Absolutely loving it.
The Moeraki Tavern is also another fantastic place to eat. I highly recommend both.

Booked Moeraki to see boulders and Yellow Eyed penguins.
Booked Moeraki to see boulders and Yellow Eyed penguins. But actually peguins were at Oamaru. May need to eat dinner in Oamaru also as Moeraki only has the cafe by the boulders which closes at 7pm. (However we had brunch at the cafe and it was good.). Take Bushy Beach road from Oamaru to Yellow Eyed Penguin viewing point approximately an hour before sundown. In December the Blue Penguins arrive in Oamaru at 9pm. The people at that nesting area were very helpful.

It’s a beautiful coastal spot to visit. Only problem is the roads which are dreadful. U need a 4 wheel drive to get around. Fishwife cafe is amazing. Beautiful fresh blue cod and crayfish. Only problem is that it’s not always open except weekends.

Was able to get two units next to each other, helpful with our larger group.
Good water pressure, spacious bedrooms, very comfortable beds and good view from upstairs balcony main bedroom.
Would have liked to be notified road motel on, was closed with access to residents only. Did cause some confusion and concern on arrival, although access was possible.

Unfortunately all the eating places were closed while we were there so we had to go into Hampden.
But I have been there before and highly recommend any of the food venues, and with covid, it was always a possibility.

A small seaside village with spectacular views of the ocean, Otago coastline and of course the famous Moeraki Boulders. It has the bonus of also being home to Fleur’s Place - a fabulous restaurant with 5 star cuisine.
