Amazing location - among beautiful trees. Quiet, peaceful and secluded.
The host James went above and beyond for us, sending on stuff we left behind, refusing to be reimbursed ❤️

Beautiful cottage, situated in a stunning garden. The cottage has a separate entrance, kitchen, bathroom and open plan bedroom/lounge and dining area, as well as veranda seating and a patio area. The spa pool was enjoyable to relax in at the end of a busy day. Breakfast is cooked to order and the fridge is well stocked with nibbles and drinks. This was a relaxing one night stop on my journey, and would make for a beautiful romantic getaway. The cottage is a short drive into town and is handy to the forgotten world highway (SH43) and the attractions on that route.
Located next to McDonald's and only a 1-minute walk from the Ongarue River, shops and restuarants, Kelly's Motel offers rooms with a fully equipped kitchen.

Our room was spacious and clean. It has a very usable little kitchenette with a one plate cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge. The shower was good if a little dark.

went on the forgotten highway rail trail adventure trip, which was awesome, all their staff are great, a fascinating trip.
Taumaranui itself is a bit grotty, but have a great Thai restaurant and good golf course.

Due to a flooding warning, I canceled my trip. Unfortunately, the motel did not meet expectations. I was told by the staff not to come again because they "don’t like my type." I will certainly not be staying there in the future.

Very nice town with plenty of places to eat. We visited the local RSA and the people there were very friendly, also very helpful. The meal we had was very good and the drinks very reasonable.
Also had a meal and drink at the Golf club again very friendly and the service great.

A town full of surprises with opportunities for young and old. Close to t he river and jet boating and river kayak trips, ski fields in either direction, seasonal rail cart possibilities, cycle trails nearby and some good options for shopping and dining. The venison curry at Monsoon was amazing.

A remote country town, with most of the usual facilities etc. Good river activities. Great railway history with good historical displays, museum. One of the best RSA's with a good restaurant. Handy to the mountains and snow, consequently the temperature is colder than average.

Our stay felt personal as we were treated like family. We were greeted at the car park and welcomed then led through a beautiful garden to the house entrance where we shown the facilities and our room.
We were left to our own requirements, quiet reading time, trips to sights, great Thai restaurant meal then back to
the lodge. It was like coming back to a top class hotel. We opened a bottle of wine and asked the hosts to join us
and great conversation was had. A perfect and restful stay.
It was a really comfortable, warm and clean home. Everything was very well thought out, with products available for us to use - the owners even dropping off breakfast and milk for us the next day! Felt very looked after - thank you!
The hotel was off the main road, which meant it was quiet. The staff were lovely and accommodating, even calling afterwards when they thought we may have left something at the hotel.
