Taupō has a helpful information centre. Walking trails were excellent. Huka Falls & craters of the Moon were both fascinating. Redwood forest impressive. Enjoyed the Botanical Gardens walkways. Good restaurants & excellent coffee shops - loved Double Shot cafe for coffee & scones. Impressive range of shops. Public toilets near Information Centre were very clean & well cared for.

Taupo is always a great place to visit with lots of activities to keep tourists busy. For those of us who have lived there in the past the shops in Taupo are good to browse in.
There are some great cafes too.
Whether you are visiting for the 1st time or have visited often, Taupo has much to offer - relaxation or something more adventurous.

I was just passing through for an evening, so I wasn't able to enjoy Taupo in the same way as I have previously. I like the town - plenty of places to eat, a number of activities in surrounding areas. Plenty of people moving through, so lots going on.

The region is beautiful and worth exploring the outdoors.
The region is beautiful and worth exploring the outdoors. The walking paths along the lake and lake access are excellent.
The Taupo dining scene has improved, and there are currently a few excellent options. We hope the uplift continues. However, there are still too many fast-food outlets and low-end dining options that don't match the region's natural, healthy, and outdoor lifestyle.
The overall quality of accommodation needs improvement. There are too many average to below-average accommodations in prime positions on the lake. Premium (pet-friendly) accommodation is a big opportunity that has been missed.
The closure of SH1 to Taupo from the North is not ideal as the diversion roads are narrow and windy with little to no services nor places to pull over for emergencies. Once the roadworks are complete, this issue will be resolved.

Taupō has a lot to offer, there are so many activities for all ages. Would highly recommend Huka Falls Jet, Chis Jolly Cruises, Craters of the Moon, Orakei Korako and the Wairakei Terraces and Thermal Health Spa. There are a huge variety of places to eat and watch the sunset.

Taupo is a fantastic place to visit and stay.
Taupo is a fantastic place to visit and stay. There's plenty to see and do and the scenery is stunning. During our trip we visited Wairakei Terraces, Waipahihi Botanical Gardens, 2, 3 & 4 mile bays and had very tasty food at Lionel's, Brantry, Victoria's Kitchen and Thai Delight.

The hotel and grounds were lovely we were upgraded to a larger room than we had booked so that was nice the staff
were very friendly and helpful the nicest we had encountered on our trip around the north island and of course
Taupo and the lake are lovely even though it is a bit out of the way.
Always stay at this motel and find the owners very accommodating and friendly.
Very clean and the heatpump is on before we arrive which is lovely. Will definately be telling family to stay there when visiting Taupo 😊
A value for Money. Just on the main road opposite to the lake. Near to the sign Love Taupo. The hole in one challenge game spot is located just opposite to this motel. Neat and tidy family oriented hotel.
Great location near a natural hot spring, cheap for Taupo. Also some cool history, although you have to go looking for the information! And has aircon.
