We loved the room with the view over the lagoon. It felt rustic and very authentic. It’s in a jungle like setting with lots of lush trees and shrubs. The breakfast of fruits, bread and jam was also very tasty and we also enjoyed the dinner served in the restaurant there. The staff are extremely helpful and lovely too. Special thanks to Rose!

Natalie is a wonder host! Alaroots is amazing - we met some truly lovely human beings here, learnt a lot about polynesian culture and just had a blast. Do go expecting a 5* hotel - it is a true hostel, and a cultural experience but also comfortable and has everything you could need! Natalie's daughter also helped us hire a car for an incredible rate from a local company - which saves us a load of money and was very patient with our rudimentary french skills!! Lovely quiet location and cute neighbourhood, but also not far from the main busier town. Simple and a little weathered but clean and functional. Lovely warm welcome from Joel and the cats.

My stay at Maitai Lapita was an absolute highlight of my French Polynesia trip. The hotel and bungalows are beautiful and have a very authentic feeling to them. The little beach and restaurant have the best views of sunset over Raiatea and breakfast was great. What made is most amazing was the extremely hospitable staff, especially Vaea, who was extremely helpful and organized very special activities for me. Her kindness and warmth will stay in my memory and I would love to come back one day :)

Great host, with good energy, who picked me up from quay.
His accommodation was only 10 minutes away.
I slept in a tent with a very good, firm mattress. Not soft.
In the afternoon it can be hot in the tent, so this makes it difficult to do a nap.
A camping stove is available, so this was very welcomed.
Onside a nice relaxing beach, where you can enjoy the water with paddling, just swimming or gaze at the ocean.
During the night this area was quiet.
Bathroom is near the house and supplies cold and hot water.
He knows where to get good food, and cheap transport.
A mosquito net may be handy next time.
I really recommend this place.
