Minimalistic yet comfy, has private kitchen, away from noise, nice garden view

I messaged & called the Hostel numerous times before my stay, but was unable to get ahold of them via phone. The lady at the desk said that their Admin is supposed to do it, but the desk staff doesn't have access. Big gap in miscommunication IMO. I booked my room not too long before I stayed - the island was in a brown out (No power for a week) and nobody warned me about this before my stay. I showed up at the hostel to check in, just to find out and it lasted another week during my whole stay. Luckily this hostel had a generator and the conditions were not their fault, but they could have at least warned me. The staff was nice, but 1/4 of the time I didn't think they understood what we were asking. Kitchen space is nice, but people take the dishes to their rooms and it was a battle most days to find a cup for coffee or silverwear to eat at times. The pool area upstairs is nice, but not a lot of space to lay out in the sun. Most of the chairs/furniture are under a roof... which would have been super nice, but there's a lot of dogs that they allow to run around the hostel - so numerous time I walked up to dog poop in the middle of the pool area, dog pee on the kitchen floors, cat sleeps on the table and dogs lay on the furniture & play in the pool - making everything dirty. When the pool was clean, it was REALLY nice! You really want to get a scooter to get around the main tourist loop from this hostel - the hostel is set back from the main road & in a section where not much is going. It's not near any of the main areas to eat or do stuff. I didn't find a close beach to go to, needed a scooter. I had a one and quickly made friends who wanted to sit on the back of mine to catch rides lol. The food at the restaurant upstairs, was limited during the power outage but the one time I ate there it was simple/good/cheap. The kitchen ladies were REALLY sweet!

I love the relaxed atmosphere. This is our 3rd stay at tropical temple, and honestly our trip to Siargao isn’t perfect unless we manage to book a room there. I feel so at home, I love how friendly and welcoming the staff are. Harly has been there since we first stayed and it’s so lovely to see familiar faces ❤️ Mabelle and July in particular were amazing, and very friendly. Walking around the resort barefoot and being surrounded by nature is really the best way to destress and spend our annual 2 weeks visit to Siargao.

True to their words: When they said they will refund me they did it rightfully. Grateful for the beautiful and accommodating staff indeed. The manager has had business etiquette I must say thus knows how to deal with guests (and/or customers). Exceptional leadership! And the place on the other hand exudes serenity a nature lover shall enamor.

My time at Amanzohi was nothing sort of absolutely outstanding!!  Donnah was amazing and was able to take care of all my requests.  She even helped arranged transportation multiple times, including airport transportation, and surfing lessons with one of the best instructors. It is an excellent central location in General Luna with everything you need within walking distance.  Across the street is the only restaurant open 24 hours which was great for my early morning breakfast and coffee.   The Greek restaurant next door is also a must try.  The beds are super comfortable and the room was exceptionally clean.  The private pool and shower area are a very nice touch.  A/C and a hot shower are also included which I found out when talking with other travelers that a hot shower is not something always offered.  One thing to mention is the book store across the road does karaoke which you can hear sometimes in the evening but never kept me awake or have trouble falling asleep.  Wherever you stay in General Luna you are going to hear something in the evening hours.   I will definitely be back again. If you find this property available, don’t look for more. We visited while still finishing up the restaurant, but the rest is done. Works are not noisy right now and start at decent hours. Staff is amazingly accomodating and friendly, we felt taken care for as if we were part of their family and honestly wanted us to enjoy every moment. Also, location was perfect for us. We had doubts about where to stay but we could walk to General Luna’s restaurants easily, and even to the ones closer to Cloud9. However, the best of the experience is Zati, the owner. She enjoys so much hosting and talking to people, that makes you feel at home. Out of nowhere, she invited us to a cooking class she decided to host in her kitchen, to two events in Siargao in other hotels, and every time we passed by her apartment by the hotel entrance we joined all sorts of amazing people and had great conversations with different Siargao residents. All in all, the hotel is cute and taken very good care of. Good rooms, great shower, beds and great swimming pool to relax. 2min Walking distance to the beach as well, where we relaxed a couple days. However, the best bit of it is how Zati takes care of you. Even before travelling we had great chats and arranged airport transfers for us.
