To start off, the resort is beautiful with a lot of greenery. The pool and access to the beach were great amenities. We each had two massages that were both great. Staff is very friendly and professional; however, there is not much they can do with the deficiencies of the resort. For this price point, the menu for lunch/dinner is extensive; however, half of the items are never available. As far as seafood goes, only grouper and tuna; after a couple of days, this gets boring. No meat items are available; no pork chops were ever available. Sparkling water is on the menu but never available. They offered soda water the first day; however, by the third day, it was no longer available. Knowing that we are staying 5 days at the resort and ordering sparkling water for lunch and dinner, this should have been taken care of. The wine list has five red wines and two white wines, which they only had available: one red and one white from the same winemaker. Cocktails are basic and seem like they make them with bottled mixes, not prepared from scratch.
The villa is beautiful, but it does not match the quality of the food in general. I agree with another review I read about the smell of mold. When we arrived to check in, it was early, and they offered to put us in a villa for a few hours until our pool villa was ready; this was a nice touch; however, we could barely rest because the smell of mold was very intense, and we felt nauseous.
We asked for our room to be made one day, and they never showed up. Also, there is no shower gel, only shampoo and conditioner. Breakfast served in our room was convenient, but the food is very basic, and they charge for every single extra, even a single egg. The full presentation and quality are like a cafeteria, not at resort level. No yogurt is available, as mentioned by other guest reviews; no cereal either. The breakfast plates and tray are never picked up by staff; they sit in the terrace all day.

The staff are very considerate. Many of them are learning how to work in a business to get credit for their education and the owner selects them very well. The laundry staff are also very good and prompt. The location is excellent being right in front of the fortress. You can get a great view of the fort at night from your balcony in some rooms!

I don't recommend Taytay unless you wanna see a town without tourists.
There is a micro dirty beach in the center. It was fiesta time so a lot of people and a lively town, with music non stop, which was nice.
We went on an island hopping tour which was private because there was no one else, and we had to pay 4500p for 2 people, without lunch, for 3 stops. We didn't go very far. The snorkeling in front of Elephant island was actually nice and colorful, the small hidden lagoon was interesting, but the water is not crystal clear like in El Nido, and the sand is not white. The 2 beaches where we stopped were quite dirty and snorkeling was not interesting there. Maybe you need to go a bit further...
Anyway after seeing El Nido, Coron and Port Barton, I wouldn't recommend Taytay which doesn't add much to the trip I think
