Caniçal – 20 hotels and places to stay

Facing the beachfront, Dreams Madeira Resort Spa & Marina offers 5-star accommodations in Caniçal and has an outdoor swimming pool, garden and private beach area.

Great location for beauty and for hiking. The resort was not overcrowded. It was easy to get dinner reservations and to find seating at the buffet and other restaurants.

Just a 11-minute walk from Beach Pedradeira and 0.6 miles from Ribeira do Natal Beach, SWEET home I features accommodations in Caniçal with a terrace.

Awesome, spacious apartment, with everything you may need. You can also rent a good Citroen c3 car directly from the owner which is really convenient. 10/10

Studio Home Away from Home offers accommodations in Caniçal, a 5-minute walk from Beach Pedradeira and 700 yards from Ribeira do Natal Beach.

Fantastic studio right next to the beach in a very picturesque village. Plenty of restaurants and bars at max 5 min walk, small shop and two bakeries nearby. Studio is equipped with everything one might possibly need and the hosts welcomed me so nicely (including their kind offer to pick me up at the airport!) that I really felt at home.

With 1312 feet of private sea front, the 5-star property offers spacious rooms all with balcony and views of the Atlantic and the Deserted Islands.

Beautiful property in a great location for hiking to Pico Ruivo and Pico Areeiro. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They made us feel very special. The Hibiscus Restaurant had wonderful food and Fabrício was great!

    Small little harbour front town

Small little harbour front town Variety of small restaurants Highly recommend Celebrantes, do not recommend Aquarium! Beautiful views but not a town for families. Great if you would like to do walking/hiking, the hills are insane and shops are very small, not commercialised and very local All restaurants are seafood orientated, there is a small Pizza takeaway, so be mindful of planning to visit.

Canical may not be for everyone; it's a small, quiet fishing town with an industrial port and rocky beach. The whale museum is excellent and you can walk there from the apartment (we've been before, so not sure it was open this time so do check). The reason we went to stay in Canical was to walk to ponta Sao lorenco which is a short bus journey away. It's a stunning, dramatic walk along the peninsula you see when you land on Madeira. Canical beach would be improved by having wooden pallets to lie on all year round. Northern European tourists are desperate for sunbathing all year round, it's warm enough for us!
