It was unfortunate that Ramadan was in place during our stay and spoilt the daytime experience as many attractions were closed - we were not warned of this when booking the trip. Getting a meal at night was also difficult as many places were full and the souk overcrowded. We loved visiting the National Museum of Qatar and the Museum of Islamic Art - both have wonderful collections, beautifully displayed. Also, they are both architecturally interesting, especially the National Museum ( which is astonishing). The National Library is also fantastic, especially the historic treasures on the lower-ground (?) floor; it’s easy to reach via the metro system, which is clean, quick and very cheap. We went on an evening dhow trip, and a long walk round the Corniche - both good for seeing spectacular buildings, close up and from a distance. Waqif is good for a wander and some dinner. Great location for a holiday.
Great location for a holiday. The best bit is that it is not Dubai! Relaxed and laid back. Of course there are some odd things and things I would like to see changed that would not impact on the 'real' life of the country, but the people are friendly, the food is great, the weather is perfect. Best mall for me is Vendome, however they are all good, jut depends on what you are looking for. Beaches in Doha are mainly found at either 5 star hotels or beach clubs. Out of town you can some lovely beaches. The small local farms, zoos are good. The parks are wonderful, especailly in Katara. Overall a great place to holiday, best to come for a week at least, a layover will give you a taste, but longer is best. Beautiful city to stay especially The Pearl. Super safe, clean and very friendly people. Lots of places to visit. Uber extremly cheap and fast so very easy to get around the city, also check out Talaba, amazing for take out delivery for food, groceries etc., to your hotel.
