Chiang Khong – 12 hotels and places to stay

Namkhong Guesthouse and Resort features a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and restaurant in Chiang Khong. This 3-star hotel offers a 24-hour front desk and a tour desk.

Spent one quick night before crossing over to Laos, and I really enjoyed spending some time at the pool. The room was clean and spacious with a private bathroom, and the hostel staff was helpful with questions about the slow boat/border. The location that google took us to initially was wrong, but the woman at that hotel was able to direct us back here.

Baanfai Guesthouse Chiangkhong has free bikes, garden, a shared lounge and terrace in Chiang Khong.

Spent one night here and it was all good! The room was small but cute, the bed was extremely comfortable and the a/c was great! The shower was a bit too small but nothing to complain about. The owner is really nice and friendly. We bought the transfer service to Luang Prabang and he personally drove us to the border checkpoint and showed us the way.

Baan Sakuna Hotel has a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and restaurant in Chiang Khong.

What a special place! We had a gorgeous and spacious room with a great view out towards the Mekong River. The owner was friendly and the food was good. Nothing to complain about! There's not much to do in right around the hotel, but a night or two stay is a great way to relax.

Chiang Khong, a lovely little town next to the river.

Chiang Khong, a lovely little town next to the river. Views are amazing and the food is good. It is not very big so staying for an extended time may be dull for some. Great for relaxing and quiet. Excellent for walking and/or riding bicycles.

    I liked to have riverview.

I liked to have riverview. We had two single beds that we rearranged such that they were mire close to eachother. Not perfect but ok. For one person the bed was too hard, for the other it was good. Was great to be on the (small) balcony to look at the river, but there were no seats. I used the pool, but at the time of the day the two high building on the side avoided all sunshine to warm up the water. We also had to use our own towels from the room, one per person. Checkout was fast without checking the room. Few hours after we left, we were in Chiang Rai already, staff called us that they we left behind a watch. They agreed to send it to our home in Chiang Mai. Great service that we really appreciate.

Location was good, easy access to the riverside boulevarde providing lengthy walks in either direction. Friendly english speaking owners, ready to help with any enquiry. Room was large and spotlessly clean and had a large sliding glass door on to a balcony with a fabulous view across the Mekong River to a Laos town on the other side. Close to main street with lots of cafes. The ideal town to stay when catching a slow boat to Luang Prabang, but give yourself more than just one night, to enjoy Chiang Khong.

It’s in a good location with restaurants and stores within walking distance. It’s located in the heart of Chiang Khong city. The beds were very comfortable, and the shower had strong water pressure and was hot. Although the staff wasn’t there to greet us when we arrived, we rang the bell as the sign said, and she came right away. She was very helpful and helped us immensely. It was a good value for the money. I would stay here again.

Really friendly staff. Beautiful room with amazing balcony and view overlooking the countryside. We didn't really use the balcony however due to the swarms of bugs and mosquitoes. A short walk to the Lotus shopping centre but you would need transport to get to the centre of Chiang Khong. We only stayed one night before catching the slow boat to Luang Prabang. The evening meal was really delicious and cheap.

It was very clean. The owners were very friendly. They picked us up when we arrived in Chiang Khong, provided breakfast, drove us to the border the next morning and reserved tickets for the slow boat. We could use bicycles for free, but we decided to rent a motorbike for a good price.
