Ko Mak – 50 hotels and places to stay

Facing the beachfront, Sabai Beach Resort offers 3-star accommodation in Ko Mak and features a garden, private beach area and terrace.

Small resort at the quiet end of the beach. Just 2 beachfront and a further 2 set back "beachfront" chalets as the picture, and a further 4 ground floor rooms in a block behind. Nice small garden area through which you walk 20m to the beach of very fine sand. There's a nice beach bar serving a limited range of food and drinks. Enough shaded sun beds for the residents. There are a number of restaurants within walking distance of the resort, perhaps 400m. These include an excellent vegan restaurant ,"Pak Pak", with especially good breakfast dishes.

Offering direct access to beautiful Ao Kratueng Beach, Makathanee Resort is located on the island of Koh Mak. Guestrooms and the outdoor pool are set within tropical landscaped gardens.

Listen, the location is perfect!!! Close to nice massage places as well as restaurants. Easy to hire scooter at good price. The rooms have nice views and the beach gets cleaned. Pool is nice and the loungers are awesome. The grass in front is nice if you think of how vicious the sand fleas can get. The receptionist was amazing!!! She was well spoken in English (the first Thai person we encountered that actually understood English). Well done to her!

Boasting a private beach along Suanyai Bay, Seavana Koh Mak Beach Resort features an outdoor pool, soothing massage treatments, and beach facilities services.

Rooms are nice and have a rustic charm that allows for a calming atmosphere. The breakfast isn’t vast but it is more than enough and caters for all. The staff really make sevanna fun and relaxing and are so kind and attentive and made our stay amazing. We found the beach and views incredible and probably the best on the island

Pano Resort has a terrace, restaurant, a bar and water sports facilities in Ko Mak. The rooms have a balcony with sea views and free WiFi. Guest rooms at the resort are equipped with a seating area.

This has been one of the best places I've stayed in for...the peaceful location, the animals, the staff, the other guests, the superb food and coffee, the social common area and the laid back vibe. It's proper old school Thailand. Very easy to rent a scooter from there, which I'd really recommend to explore the island. The roads are in good condition and nearly all flat.

Located in Ko Mak, 2.2 km from Ao Soun Yai Beach, Laem Tukkata beach Koh Mak provides accommodation with a private beach area, free private parking, a restaurant and massage services.

The location of this hotel at the far western end of the island means you really need your own transport if you want to move around the island, the benefit of the location is that it is quiet.

Set in Ko Mak and with Ao Soun Yai Beach reachable within less than 1 km, Baan TaLay Hostel and Bar offers a shared lounge, non-smoking rooms, free WiFi throughout the property and a bar.

I had an amazing time at Baan TaLay hostel and on Koh Mak island. The hosts were incredibly friendly and always ready to help. It's rare to find such welcoming people, and it made my stay so much more enjoyable. The breakfast they serve is delicious – a perfect start to the day. Plus, they offer scooter rentals, which made exploring Koh Mak Island super convenient. I was also impressed that they have a laundry service, which was a lifesaver during my stay. Koh Mak itself is beautiful, and this hostel is the perfect base to enjoy everything the island has to offer. I loved every minute of my time here and would absolutely come back in the future. Highly recommend!

A recently renovated holiday home situated in Ko Mak, Good Choice 2 features a garden. This property offers access to a balcony, free private parking and free WiFi.

The place is really idyllic. The house perfectly married with the environment, which is a rarity. Really quiet and completely immersed in the green but close to everything. AC and fan. Some kitchen supplies. Nice patio and nice window that opens onto the terrace.

Our stay at this accommodation was unbeatable. We felt very comfortable here - the facilities were very practical and comfy, at the same time the staff were nice and we felt at home. The breakfast and the overall food in the restaurant was excellent. Thank you for this great service and we will be happy to recommend this accommodation to everyone. It was the most beautiful stay we have ever had.

Very small island which is still kind of rural and not very touristy. That also means that there are not many amenities or fun things you can do. Accommodations are more basic, food or bar options are limited, and you've seen all of the island in a few hours. But you can also have a perfect chill time without any noisy tourist crowds or big loud party areas. Beaches are great. If you want more action, just take the ferry to Ko Chang (once a day).

Nice quiet island but very expensive compared to other places in Thailand. There's only a couple roads easy to explore the whole island in one day. Just make sure to bring a lot of bug spray the sand flies and mosquitoes eat humans all the time- thai or foreigner- best resort hands is seavana

Really nice and chill island, it's laid back and a great place for a break but you can also do activities such as snorkeling and diving. There's not loads to do but it's exactly what we were looking for, a little island paradise. Plenty of restaurants but not many bars. A day trip to Koh Kham is an absolute must! "The Ball Cafe" and "Pak Pak Vegan" are great cafés. Try "M.A. Bistro" for upmarket dinner or "Khun Mam's Kitchen" for an authentic Thai meal.

Seeking a Thai escape that strays from the clichés of overcrowded and overhyped islands? Koh Mak is an undiscovered gem waiting to be explored. This island emerges as a paradisiacal retreat where time appears to stand still, offering a perfect balance of relaxation, exploration, and reconnection with what's essential. For three to four days, our family had the privilege of reveling in the tranquility and serenity that pervade Koh Mak. Each day brought its share of discoveries, from the whispering waves breaking on sandy shores to the verdant landscapes seemingly untouched by time or man. Just an hour's boat ride from Koh Chang, Koh Mak stands as an invitation to all those looking to immerse themselves in an authentic and preserved Thailand. The crystal-clear waters, secluded beaches, and warm hospitality of the locals make this island a charming alternative to the more well-known Koh Kood. In conclusion, our stay in Koh Mak was an enchanting interlude, a precious family memory where each shared moment will remain etched as an invitation to tranquility and natural beauty. For those in search of a unique experience in Thailand, Koh Mak is a stopover not to be missed.

We loved this place. Fabulous location, right on the beach but also walking distance to lots of great restaurants. We loved the beach and pool. The hotel hired out motorbikes which were great to see the rest of the island (also a really quiet place to ride a motorbike which we loved). Staff were really friendly and helpful. Restaurant served good food and we enjoyed the breakfast. We can’t wait to come back. Highly recommended.

Location and Beach are under the best in Koh Mak. Almost no stones/corals on the normal beach/in the water. Only this Hotel on the whole beach. Family Villa on Beach has nice size and is really located next to beach (altough there are better beach villa options available in Koh Mak)

Quiet and relaxing hotel , lovely staff, decent food. Simple and affordable rooms with good AC. For a beach stop of 2-3 nights it’s the perfect hangout. You can rent a scooter at the hotel for little money and explore the small island.

Came for a second time to Seavana. The team is still amazing, the hotel offers very spacious rooms. Breakfast is included and good. Located on the best beach of Koh Mak. Thank you for everything, and special thanks to Jim!
