We spent 1 night here to get to know Sturgeon Bay a little better. Loved the view from our 2 bedroom 2 story room. Plus lots of fresh air from both decks! It’s on a quiet road and just a 5 minute drive into the downtown area.

Algoma's a nice, quiet little town with easy access to Door County and the surrounding countryside of northern Kewaunee County. Algoma has some decent places to eat, although for dinner most are "bar & grill" type establishments. Captain's Galley Room and Dairy Dean's are great breakfast destinations.

Beautiful beach and Marina.
Beautiful beach and Marina. Smashed on the Rocks bar has the best Bloody Mary's and live music on Saturday's and Sunday's. Dairy Dean's Diner has great food. It is located just off the beach.

The staff was great.
The staff was great. We stayed to tour the finger, and hoped to do Washington Island. If you plan ro go to Washington Island be sure to head out early. The ferry runs every hour and for 2 people with a car it's about $58. I wanted to go to the Lighthouse on the smaller island, but that ferry only runs every 2 hours. Just mind your time.

Algoma is a sweet little town we love to visit- is there a lot going on- no- that’s why we like it! It does have concerts in the park and recently cruise ships come in every other Thursday and that’s fun to watch and brings business to this lovely town. The crescent boardwalk is lovely. Algoma is close to door county and the vistas around the area are beautiful. We try to go every year!

Algoma is a fishing and boating community town on Lake Michigan, and crosses a river. It is a very nice town, good local food, and they've invested into a huge water front. It felt welcoming, would definitely stop there on my travels. It was getting late, and we were looking for lite food and ended up at the local A&W for carry out and a walk to the beach.
Its worth a note - the people at the A&W were super friendly and accommodating. A shout-out for their smile and enthusiasm. Seeing we had a dog with us, they gave her a biscuit and came outside to say hello.

The River Hills Motel is a very modern and comfortable stay and I would highly recommend it. Grace and the team at River Mills communicated our check in and were on hand around the clock. They were very helpful and friendly and set the tone for the stay - you guys are brilliant! The rooms are modern, clean and cosy and it was a very welcome stay on our road trip. This motel is a fantastic asset to Algoma and well worth your time.
