Only north Carlsbad has limited beach access due to houses built on the bluff, the majority of the town, everything south of Carlsbad Village Dr and north of Cannon Rd is unobstructed public access. From the Tamarack Beach Resort, we were able to walk to the Daily News for breakfast, the Harbor Cafe for lunch, and have dinner at the hotel adjacent Dini’s. It's mostly an upscale suburban community.
It's mostly an upscale suburban community. Lots of nice grocery stores and other shopping. I was there because my Sister and Niece live there. When I'm visiting with my wife, we like Oceanside. The beach was awesome. No complaints. Though I wish the hotel experience could be way better. My worst experience at the Motel 6 . I won’t be going back even if I was offered a free night. Note: I had to walk the block just to use the bathroom to and also change to swimwear at the Western Hotel and the other hotel across from it. I wanted to have a beer there but neither one of them had a bar. I had one at the beach hut. Yeah!Guest review byMorissette

Large room with an outdoor seating area (Santa Barbara). Parking on site is included in the room rate. Coffee, tea and light snacks available in the lobby for most of the day. Quiet location although some people do complain about the occasional train whistle from the Coaster as the train tracks are a block or two away. The noise from the train didn't bother us.
