The value of being able to ski so close, sort of, to home...
The value of being able to ski so close, sort of, to home was amazing. There were no lines and the staff were most helpful. No elevators made it difficult getting baggage for 7 people in and out was a little difficult, but not impossible. We will definitely go back. Galena is one of the best quick getaways to take if you live within a few hours. Downtown galena is beautiful with so many shops to visit. I could spend hours walking down the main street and go into all the shops. The Diamond Jo Casino and Maid-Rite are right over the border. Galena is a great historic town and a good place to eat and party. Plenty things to do in the surrounding area. And most of the restaurant's do a good job. They have something for everyone. We didn't do the town this trip. Grandkids aren't into history and shops just yet. Our other visits were very peaceful and we could take our time experiencing the shops and history of the area, as well as nearby Dubuque, IA.Guest review byJamesUnited States

The beds and the bedding are very comfortable and the rooms are always spotless. The breakfast is a hot buffet with plenty of food. The afternoon tea time with mini sandwiches is a nice touch. They provide a trolley to the downtown area (although we have not used it). It's nice to have the pub attached to the hotel, we usually get a drink and listen to the music. Kate is amazingly kind and accomodating, Leanne is also amazingly kind and makes an amazing breakfast! We were so comfortable here.
