It was clean, no frills, cheap place to stay.
It looked deserted & a bit scary at first. Not a pleasant check in office.

We have been coming to Hilton Head for years because of the family atmosphere. When you get into Hilton Head there is a historic charm and everything is so well kept. One of our favorite places to eat is Frosty Frog. We usually stay in Sea Pines but North Shores was nice also.

Nice golf courses and scenery.
Nice golf courses and scenery. The traffic is thick at every location we traveled and it is not as GPS friendly as one might expect. Due to continuous construction and changes, I would imagine.
Beaches are not as accessible as they appear in some adds so I recommend paying the extra for oceanfront if you prefer the ocean views and quick/easy access.
Lots of strip mall type stores/shops.

The beaches of Hilton Head Island are stunning and stretch for miles. The soft sand and gentle waves make it ideal for relaxing, sunbathing, and beachcombing. Coligny Beach, one of the most popular spots, offers easy access to restaurants and shops, making it a favorite for tourists. The island is a great place for nature enthusiasts. You’ll find a lot of wildlife, including dolphins, sea turtles, and a variety of birds. Hilton Head Island is perfect for a relaxing and active vacation. Whether you're an outdoor enthusiast, a golfer, or just someone looking to unwind by the beach, it has something for everyone. It strikes a nice balance between nature and leisure, making it one of the best spots for a getaway on the East Coast.
