The accommodation was great for two couples with everything we needed for self-catering. The building has a lot of character and a fascinating history. The staff were very welcoming and obliging.

Great town to visit anytime, though getting here in winter is sometimes perilous, and most of the town shuts down. There are a plethora of activities to do Spring thru Fall...hiking, biking, kayaking, exploring via vehicle, with Yosemite close enough for day trips. In Spring and Summer, a birder's paradise...bring a spotting scope!. Options narrow in Winter, but still plenty of basin, birds, beaches, and craters to explore. Mono Lake Committee store/visitor's center provides a wealth of info, as does the official Mono Lake Visitor's center. The Mobile Station at the Hwy 120 turnoff to Yosemite has Whoa Nellie Deli - great food, MARGARITAS, and occasional live music in summer..

Mono Lake is well worth a visit but be sure to see it at sunrise. The lake featured in the Pink Floyd album "Wish You Were Here" but the visitors centre makes no great play on this plus the location of the album photograph cannot be accessed due to excessive shrub growth - an opportunity missed. The is a very nice coffee shop in town whilst the tourist office staff are friendly and helpful.

The room was clean and comfortable.
The room was clean and comfortable. The bed and furniture were in good shape and the carpet looked new. The bathroom, however, was quite small and hard to get into while closing the door. A refrigerator with small freezer is provided, but no microwave oven. A small coffee maker is also provided. If one is seeking just the basic motel amenities, this motel is fine. The location is very convenient for quick, easy access to Mono Lake and Yosemite National Park. Nicely's Restaurant is within an easy walk and serves all three daily meals.

Lee Vining is a great place for exploring spots in the eastern Sierra as well as getting into Yosemite National Park. South Tufa State Park at Mono Lake is well worth a visit -- as is the Mono Lake Committee's visitor center, which is right across the street from the motel. Visit Latte Da (also just across the street) for great coffee, pastries and sandwiches and the Mono Cone for classic burgers.

I don’t want people to visit this place because it’s my secret. If people knew how sweet and special this place is they would bring their cars and their horrible children and their golfing husbands and poorly behaved dogs. Lee Vining is reserved for people who respect and understand the the fragile nature of a tiny mountain hamlet and the rustic charm of mom & pop businesses and the unique style and beauty of a little gem of a town.

Really close to east entrance to Yosemite - biggest advantage. Quite old room, therefore price in my opinion is too high for given standard (most expensive room in our 2week trip in USA), but all in all there was no problem with late check in and check out. Room was clean and standard like all other motels in US.
Very handy location near the entrance to the Tioga Pass and beautiful Mono Lake, with a few dining options nearby. Our room was a good size with a view towards the lake from a small terrace.
The Lodge is in a beautiful setting, is well looked after, and really easy to get to the Eastern entrance of Yosemite. Room was clean, beds comfortable. Lee Vining is a sweet place.
A good stopover after a day in Yosemite. Basic motel accommodation but clean and comfortable. Ate well at Niceleys in the evening.
Make sure to visit Mono Lake and the tufas.
