Very nice condo with great views. The town is very walkable with a lot of shops and restaurants. Beaches are very clean with clear water. If you're willing to drive around an hour north you can see the sleeping bear dunes and more beaches. Overall I recommend to anyone looking to visit Lake Michigan.
We stayed at the Hampton Inn and Suites. It was absolutely wonderful. The staff was excellent. They gave us so much information, from shopping, restaurants, places to visit, parks to see. Events that were going on. Saw the light house, due to rough water we didn’t walk the pier. Manistee was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Saw the ships in the harbor. Great restaurants, lots of small shops, clothing, furniture, gift shops, crafts, Art Gallery, Movie theater, distillery, winery’s and restaurants, the restaurant on the top floor at the Hampton Inn, the food and staff had amazing food. We are making plans to come back, we enjoyed ourselves so much. So many things to do. The beach is gorgeous and they have so much to do there, were play grounds, right on the beach. Best long weekend we had with family and friends. Enjoyed and we will be back. Thank you.

The location was good.
The location was good. Absolutely every other component of the facility was absolutely abhorrent from the innkeepers attitude, the room, the bathroom, the bed, the slamming doors at 4:30 AM. It was awful!

My home town (only get back there every year or other) is wonderful. Start with the best beach sand in the world (and I have been to beaches on 4 contineents) or the US. Early August, the water was just a notch above rereshing (just right). We stayed in the lake nonstop for over an hour one day--can't remember the last time I did that. The views from the piers (1st St. and 5th Ave.) and inspirational. Only bad thing is the sprawling houses along the beach which used to give you a greater sense of nature. At least you can still walk the beach. TJ's Pub on River and Maple was a great place to have lunch with a unique menu at a reasonable price (good food/great service). Take a ride on the Manistee Princess (leaves from by the Elk Lodge downtown) to get a view of the boardwalk and out past the piers, into Lake Michigan. We were taken along the north route to Orchard Beach and back. Although we didn't have one of Manistee's spectacular sunsets, we thouroughly enjoyed the ride and singing along to beach appropriate songs. The Bungalow Inn=an awesome restaurant that serves tasty perch dinner which our clan must have when we are in town. Fond memories of when it was a honky-tonky bar and I bartended there are I got out of the Army. The remodel is really nice. Other than that, check out the many distinctive churches and Victorian houes (several you can stay in). Would love to have caught a live performance at the Ramsdell Theater (built in 1903 if I remember, by T J Ramsdell. We always joked about his ghost being in the building when I was doing community theater there years ago. Stay Manistee. You'll have a great time. Oh yes--the Vogue movie house is revamped and has a great concession bar, and the T-Shirt store down the street caries a great, color variety with a variety of designs.

Growing up my family had a cottage here so the town was familiar to me. Currently I would say it was surprising that the eateries closed so early!
It would be great if perhaps there was a website that gave me dead for entertainment, current events and maybe listings of area restaurants, art activities, etc.

Quaint town with beautiful Victorian houses.
Quaint town with beautiful Victorian houses. The main Street reminded me of Galena, Il. just not as long. I would have loved a walk along the river but, alas, it is too hard for me to walk anymore. We went to see the Fall colors. We got there before peak season, but still very nice. We used the Manistee Fall tour books and it was helpful! The beach at end of First St. was nice. We went at Covid time, so, many eating places were closed or limited open times. We had a friend there though to show us around! Also, street repair made things interesting! Was surprised to see 8 or so deer in town, grazing on people's lawns, so ,be careful driving!

The room (queen deluxe) was spacious and had a nice view of the river, Bathroom had a counter with plenty of space for personal articles. The room has a small fridge and microwave. There was no breakfast offered, but the coffee was good and there were fresh fruits and snack bars. The staff members at the Inn are very nice and helpful. There's a candy and ice cream shop next door with delicious treats. Downtown Manistee is charming with lots of restaurants and shopping.
Our stay was excellent. The hotel was very clean and quiet. The man who checked me in was very nice. Our room had been recently renovated and they did a really nice job. The view of the river was good, the bed was comfortable, the location is excellent. I was able to go around the riverwalk. Very charming little hotel. We plan to stay again in the future.
The room is very clean. The hotel has everything for your comfort. The pool and jacuzzi are great. A big plus is that places with food are close and inexpensive. Our family liked everything. We will definitely come back to you.
