Mc Gregor is a time warp town with lots of empty buildings but quirky as well. It is very quiet except for the regular trains day and night that blow their horn 3-4 times when passing through . Fun River town. Lots to do.

There's not much to see in McGregor, IA.
There's not much to see in McGregor, IA. This was just a an overnight stop on my way to Chicago, IL. Most of the businesses in Downtown McGregor are either closed or are going out of business. The town is quiet with a handful of restaurants, but that is really it. There's nothing to see or do. If you want to see sights or other historical landmarks, just 2 miles from McGregor, IA is the second oldest town in Wisconsin, Prairie du Chien. great small town to walk around in. interesting stores and good restaurants. Ate a wonderful breakfast out on a colorful patio. Enjoyed going across the bridge to visit Wayalusing State Park. The bed was extremely firm, which isnt too bad if you've got a bad back usually. We slept soundly after a day of hiking.
