Our disappointment was that we were not told before booking that there was no tv service. We arrived during a major snowstorm and we’re looking forward to watching an NFL playoff game.

The breakfast was good. The bed and linens were fine. The other room furnishings were nice.

Nice facilities and amenities. Friendly staff. Convenient location.
The hotel room we had was horrible. Toilet moved when we sat on it. The room smelled horribly. Spider webs on several ceiling corners. Not a typical Holiday Inn Express. Floors dirty. Would not recommend. The painting was the worst I’ve ever seen.

The views of the Ohio river are great from the state park.
The views of the Ohio river are great from the state park. All interactions with shop keepers and motel were friendly.
GPS worked well to navigate town. Mermet spring diving is only 12 miles away so great area to stay for your weekend dive needs.
Paducah,KY is just 6-8 miles on I -24 with lots of other restaurants and shopping if needed.

I came to see the eclipse.
I came to see the eclipse. I have always wanted to stay at Harrah’s just to see what it was like. The room was very nice! The only thing I didn’t like was that it didn’t have a microwave in it. And the bathtub didn’t drain like it was supposed to. But when I told one of the housekeepers about it & we went to check it, then I saw that it had finally drained. And I wish that the restaurant in the hotel was open longer & that you didn’t need to make a reservation for it. And I wish that the buffet was open again too! I used to eat there in the past & it was really great! I really miss it!

I was in town recently for the 2024 eclipse, but in past years I’ve visited the Superman Celebration held in June. Metropolis is a friendly town full of kitsch. Definitely visit Fat Edd’s and Sissy’s when in town for food, drink, coffee and sweets. If you like to gamble, there is Harrah’s Hotel and Casino - under the Caesar’s umbrella of casinos.

We enjoyed our stay but the restaurant was not open.
We enjoyed our stay but the restaurant was not open. We had to order from the casino grill. There were very limited options/ all fried or fast food. We had looked forward to eating in the restaurant since our friends had told us how delicious it was.

The hotel is in a beautiful location overlooking the Ohio river. We so enjoyed the view! Checkin was great and got room keys right away. Beds looked clean and were comfy. We saw very little food at casino, but Big Edds is walking distance and great! The casino is cozy but nice.
The pet fee was very high. It cost me $80 so the fee was more then the cost of the room itself. Was not listed on the site or I would have chose another hotel. But it was late, we were tired and it was a bit far from the path so we just paid it. Pet fees should be listed up front.
1:The pool was perfect & was open till 10 pm.
2:The bar within walking distance had excellent food.
3:Staff I interacted with were polite & cheerful.
4:Was able to do some Christmas Shopping in Metropolis.
