Radford – 13 hotels and places to stay

Located in Radford, 16 miles from Lane Stadium, The Highlander Hotel Radford has accommodations with a fitness center, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace.

Location is excellent! Not far from VT, as we were visiting for parents weekend. Accommodations were clean and comfortable. Only wish there was a small couch to watch TV. Loved the coffee shop and seating area downstairs!

Located within 17 miles of Lane Stadium and 17 miles of English Field, Super 8 by Wyndham Radford VA has rooms in Radford.

Hopefully the property is being updated soon like they said because it was worse than I expected. I wasn’t expecting anything fancy but I was expecting no ants in the bed, a hand towel in the bathroom, a small closet and a bed that didn’t give me back pain. The water reservoir in the coffee maker in the room was also dirty. The “breakfast provided” was pathetic. I’m glad I brought my own breakfast. But the things I liked is the close proximity to Radford University, the microwave and fridge in the room, and it was quiet.

We choose Radford to stay as it was a convenient place to stay , on our trip, enroute Woodbridge Virginia for family reunion. My goal was to drive approximately 15 hours, first day of travel. Radford met that goal. Radford was impressive. Had a lot to offer those persons passing through. We arrived 9:30 pm. Slept. 9:30a next morning we stopped at McDonald's for breakfast, gas at Kroger and departed by 20am.

I did not like that they were giving out keys to people without checking identification. A man next to me said he can’t get in his room. The front desk guy asked his room number and he gave it to him. The room was not his. He kept walking past our room and when we asked him he said the room key they gave him was a different room. Besides being unsafe the place is a health hazard. They fold the pillows in half and put them in the case. When we unfolded it we found blood stains on the pillow. Management has yet to call me or give a refund. Front desk staff was the only ones who seemed apologetic. New managers Mike and his general manager wife has yet to address this issue.

We were visiting bc our son was at Boys State at RU. So it was just over night. A beautiful town, easy to access and find everything. The hotel Quality Inn, was beautiful, old and quaint with a few upkeep issues. RU is a beautiful school.

Radford is a quaint, historical town which seems to have suffered from the imposed COVID lockdown. Lots of empty storefronts. Hopefully, things will turn around when COVID restrictions are ended. Restaurant selections in town are limited to family fare.

Do not have a lot more input for this as we came here to move our son into college. We saw some restaurants and a Walmart, which were nice. Didn’t do any sightseeing or activities but I’m sure you could find things to do.
