The location can’t be beat. How many hotels can you say are built on the edge of a caldera? But to be clear, the lava is a looooong way away. And probably for the better too. The welcome mimosa was nice, but you weren’t allowed to bring it outside because of licensing laws. Very friendly person at check-in, who was very helpful with tips on where to go for night-time volcano viewing.

Two-bedroom 'unit' (downstairs), with kitchenette and a spacious outdoor area, although it was too cold when we were there to really utilise this. Very spacious and the hot tub worked really well (definitely a highlight). The owners live on site behind the building and they were very pleasant. I saw bikes out front but not sure if these were free to use or you had to hire them as we didn't use them. Wifi was quick and there was even a microwave to heat food. Breakfast was okay, although limited options - porridge, 2-minute noodles, biscuits, nut bars and fruit. All utensils and bowls were cleaned every day, which was good as there's no sink in the kitchenette. There's a TV too and managed to log in to my Netflix so that was a bonus. About 7 min drive to Volcanoes National Park so very close, and about 2-3 mins to Volcano Village. Try the Thai Thai Bistro - amazing food. All in all we enjoyed our stay here.

We were able to spend two nights in the Eco Lodge (on the right of the property) in September 2024 and really enjoyed our stay.
A wonderful experience. Solar powered, filtered rainwater, a cute kitchen, a great bathroom, TV, gas oven... and the view of nature. Fantastically beautiful. In the evening we sat on the terrace and listened to the frogs' concert. We couldn't get enough of it.
Agnes and Andrew have created an absolutely fantastic place to stay that we would happily recommend. We would stay here again and again. Ideal for relaxing and close to Volcano National Park. Communication with Agnes and Andrew was just great, contactless and very fast. Everything was perfect for us.

Two or three days seems the right amount of time for Volcano and it's obvious neighbouring attractions. The town itself seems a bit "tourist challenged" in that there are a very limited number of dining choices. Other than that, there is a weekly Farmers Market on Sunday mornings, a gas station, hardware store, a couple of general stores, a slew of BnBs...and that's about it. All the interest lies in the nearby Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, and rightly so.

I absolutely adorable volcano village.
I absolutely adorable volcano village. Unfortunately the small volcano general store has turned into a bistro called Thai Thai bistro which is extremely overpriced at $24-$30 a plate. We ordered the sweet sour stirfry and asked for pork but ended up with chicken because it was takeout, there was no way to send it back Other than the commercialization of the village. I would highly recommend visiting there and staying at least a week in an Airbnb.

Got lucky to book a room at Volcano House due to a last minute cancellation. View of erupting volcano was an extraordinary once in a lifetime experience. Room was clean and adequate, but that was irrelevant, we would have stayed in a tent for this! Restaurants were both surprisingly good!

Volcano is conveniently close to the national park , and Mauna kena, and far away from the touristic loud places . However access roads are tricky, you need a good car . And not too many options close by for groceries or place to eat.

Beautiful, large, landscaped yard--similar to a rainforest and close to Volcanoes National Park, Volcano House, Thurston Lava Tube, and Devastation Trail. There are places to eat nearby--Eagle's Lighthouse, Kilauea Military Camp, Ohelo Cafe or the Rim at the Volcano House. There are also many places to eat in Hilo town. Also in Hilo, another good place to visit is Panewa Zoo, for families with children.

The green, beautiful lush forest-like atmosphere in Volcano was so breathtaking! It was peaceful and quiet (except at night) you could hear the little frogs (koki frogs) nonstop but you eventually rest and they fade as you get closer to sleep.
Even driving feels awesome!

The location was great! Very close to both Volcano Village and to Volcano National Park. We enjoyed the quiet and spaciousness of the area surrounding the home. We rented two of the comfortable bedrooms; the third one was vacant so we had the whole house to ourselves. Leonard was very accommodating. We accidentally left a rain coat; he called us to let us know and offered to mail it back to us. We had questions about the TV--Leonard was only a phone call away and came right away to help us out.

Host met us on arrival and settled us into the house which was surrounded by rainforest. Coffee, tea, and local handmade chocolate with booklets of suggestions for dining and exploring. Susan pleasantly answered our questions and had umbrellas hanging on the covered porch which came in handy visiting Volcanoes National Park which is only 10 minutes away.
The hotel is 7 minutes from the national park. Such a great convince allowing us to go during the day and at night to see the volcano. Our room was great!!! Very big and spacious. Go there! You will have a good time!
This cosy cottage ensured we had a wonderful stay in Volcano Village. It provided everything we needed and was a warm and welcoming base. We loved our time here and can’t recommend it enough!
