Everything! This was the absolute best part of our trip. The staff, the tent, the game drives, the food. It was well planned and professional. Thank you so much 😊

Set against a cliff above the Bushman's River valley, Woodbury Lodge is located in the malaria-free area of the Amakhala Game Reserve.

I'd recommend this reserve to anyone whether it's a couple, family, solo traveller or group. The reserve is so welcoming and has a lovely family ethos. Each evening a member the reserve sat and had dinner with us and everyone joined at the same table. It was great for conversation and equally if you wanted to be alone you could be. The front of house manager was very friendly and attentive and our ranger Jessie was excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable and there was nothing he didn't know when asked.

Located in the Amakala Big Five Game Reserve, Bush Lodge offers an intimate lodge experience. It features an outdoor swimming pool, viewing deck and a number of game drives and bush walks.

The entire stay from, the moment we arrived to the moment we departed, was a joy. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Jono was a fabulous safari ranger - we enjoyed three wonderful excursions with him- he's a wealth of information, is extremely enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge, is friendly and a joy to spend time with. Kayla welcomed us and ensured we were well taken care of our entire trip. The food was good, the rooms were fabulous! My favorite luxury was the hot bath which was drawn and awaiting us after each safari.... if I could only train my family to do this at home... ha ha! I would highly recommend Bush Lodge - and would love to return someday!

Located within the Amakhala Game Reserve, Safari Lodge - Amakhala Game Reserve is a thatched lodge offering an outdoor swimming pool, garden and sun terrace. The Port Elizabeth Airport is 55 mi away.

Lovely place. Would like to be given the option of dining as a couple OR sharing a table. We spoke to several couples you would have preferred sharing as it's a fun way to meet new people, swap safari stories and share laughter. We asked a couple to join us fie dinner saying the previous night they had dealt outside the group. Loved Addo Park. The food was fantastic!!

The staff at Amakhala were very friendly and helpful.

The staff at Amakhala were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. the room was large and when you came back after the second safari they had turned the lights on. folded down the beds and put the heating on. That is a really great touch from the staff. The Park Rangers were very good. We had Jessie and he was very informative and had a great sense of humour. He really did his best to find the animals we all wanted to see and made it a special experience.

Amakhala Game Reserve is a haven for wild animals and a brilliant place for a safari. Many of the animals used to roam the land 100 years ago before the land was used for farming. In the early 2000's the land was returned to its natural habitat and the animals reintroduced, with the aim of conservation and breeding of endangered species. As it is in a malaria-free area, it is the perfect location for a safari for people who get bitten by mozzies! There were only a few jeeps out on drives at any time, so you rarely come across other people. There are several lodges in the reserve to choose as your base (we stayed at Safari Lodge, which was brilliant).

The whole experience was amazing. Difficult to put into words. Spectacular views from the lodge, very knowledgeable and professional rangers, great food, extremely friendly atmosphere, very thoughtful touches (like running a bubble bath on return from game drive), wonderful decor.

Beautiful place, well managed where the staff have massive respect for the animals and care for them, from a respectful distance. Not too many people out on the drives at once which is good as some reserves can get quite crowded - shows good management. Saw all the animals we could have hoped for and got to witness some amazing things, from a close but safe distance. Amazing. Relatively easy to get to too. It is a dirt road leading up to the lodge but easy to navigate even in a very small car which is what we had. Great experience.

A beautiful and well managed reserve.

A beautiful and well managed reserve. The landscape and different biomes are interesting to see and the wildlife are abundant. It is not crowded and made us like we where to only people there. Its clear to see that are leaders in conservation management and community engagement.

The entire Amakhala experience was magical.

The entire Amakhala experience was magical. Faultless from start to finish. I would suggest that Booking.com inform clients that lunch on the day of arrival is included. Also inform of the length of the drives…4 hrs and 3 hours. Water and cosy ponchos are provided. The attention to detail on this trip was excellent. The food and ambiance were top drawer. Although you can never tell which animals you’ll see, we saw a large number, including a close up lion, on our two drives and 1 night stay.
