What an awesome stay! Most unexpected! Peace, tranquility, awesome host! The food was delicious. Everyone was so attentive and accommodating! Wifi reception was exceptional. The views spectacular. The road to the farm is much better than most tarred roads. Loved the rescued animals and history! I am vegan and they had no problem catering for me. There is a lovely restaurant and bar on site. What a lovely little gift shop as well!. I was honored to be the first to buy the organic products produced right here on the farm. They grow all the ingredients right here and it is all organic! The food is organic! Free range chickens. These folks love nature and animals and you can feel it! The creatures are all loving and it reflects back at how they are treated. This should be more than just a stop over. One needs to spend a few days here to truly appreciate it all. The beauty, the hikes, nature and the beautiful creatures who lives here!! What a beautiful hidden gem! I will most definately be back and will tell all who will listen about this awesome piece of heaven!! Thank you to Thea and her staff for a wonderful stay. Keep up the good work!!

The location is on the M3 freeway to Durban. Unfortunately we had a room that faced the traffic side - albeit there were other rooms available that is shielded from the noise..
The decor in the lounge and dining hall is very well made and fits the theme very well. I took photo's of this..

Riverview is a well located establishment close to the N5. Ideal for an overnight stop on your travels or a good place as a base for days out to visit historical sites etc. It is attached to the Hound and Hare pub and restaurant which had a good selection of food and drink. There is a small swimming pool and guest TV and games room.

What a beautiful, peaceful place. We had the lovely lake and mountain all to ourselves. The cabin is decorated beautifully with special touches here and there. The hosts were VERY welcoming and friendly and surprised us with little snacks - we were very well looked after.
I highly recommend this as a stopover on your way to Dbn.
Thank you!

One of the highlights of my stay was the restaurant.
One of the highlights of my stay was the restaurant. The food was absolutely amazing—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. What I appreciated even more was how family-friendly the restaurant was, offering a safe and enjoyable space for children to play while parents dined in comfort. If you’re looking for a tranquil getaway with great hospitality and delicious food, I highly recommend

The area is interesting and historical, there's an antique shop, good resturant as well as. the smallest church in the country. The surrounding scenery is outstanding, a worthwhile area to visit.

We visited the "little church" [just off the N3] and thoroughly enjoyed it, so much history which links with Wyford farm history and had breakfast at the adjoining restaurant which was very good, with an amazing view down the valley

it is a bit of a hidden gem.
it is a bit of a hidden gem. Roads are gravel which adds to teh character. about 6 kms from the turn off- the farm is located.
rich history - well preserved.
Van Reenen is an ideal half- way stop to Durban.
the farm caters for meals etc and also has braai stands in the gardens.
We had all our meals, dinner and breakfast at the farm.
Next time- maybe book a room with a shower and also ensure that we spend longer at the farm.

Pyramid Motel has been a rest and stopover destination for my family for well over 30+ years. The theme of the pyramids are reflected in the chalets and even in the bathroom! I was the only guest and David from reception brought me my supper of liver and onions and Greek salad to my chalet. It was delicious! as was the breakfast the next morning.
I arrived early enough to enjoy a stroll through the property and enjoy the beautiful nature and sunset from my patio.
The bed hugged me to refresh me for the next day's trip.
Pyramid Motel is definitely one of my favourite overnight places to stay.

It was an overnight stay as we had flown into South Africa in Johannesburg, collected our new vehicle and drove down to Umhlanga. Because we didn't want to drive in the dark, we decided to sleep overnight in Van Reenen and leave early the next morning. It was a perfect halfway stop for the night.

Oban is an authentic working farm in the beautiful surrounds of Van Reenen Mountain Pass where Guests are immediately made to feel welcome and at home by the wonderful hosts and staff. Meals are fresh and wholesome - comfort food at its best. Our pet-friendly cottage was a delight and our fur-children loved their stay as much as we did. This charming farm is a sanctuary offering a caring, forever home to a number of rescue animals. The love is a joy to see. A very special place - we shall return.
Everything! The location- a major plus- breaks the journey from Durban to Bloem perfectly. The farm itself is wonderful,- beautiful views, cattle, sheep etc.
Garden Cottage was perfect- had everything we needed, cozy, fireplace. A treasure, tucked away in the Van Reenen valley! Definitely going back!
The location of the farm is spectacular. The rooms are spacious and has everything you need for short stay. The host is very friendly and knowledgeable about the origins of the farm and history of Van Reenen.
Great hospitality and service. Good value for money. The hotel has a lot of interesting history and it's still great to be able to stay at places that go back 130 years. Enjoyed our stay
