A very peaceful location with lovely mountain views and incredible starry skies. Our host was very helpful and knowledgeable of the area, we had an unworldly drive into the mountains we wouldn’t otherwise have known existed. Breakfast was excellent. Would love to visit again in flower season.

We slept so good. The property is at the end of the town and not near the noisy N7 like the previous place we booked. Was lovely to cool off in the pool and have a braai. Mosquito net was also very handy.

We only stayed one night at Maskam Guest farm, but I will definitely return. We did not see much of the area as the trip was to see family only. The mountains are spectacular and the night sky is so stunningly clear. I would love to also roam on the farm and see more of it.

The town is quaint and a nice safe walk around it in the evening was a pleasant surprise. The Old Jail is a must see together with the nurseries. Lodge was very accommodating and people seem friendly and helpful. The Shell garage attendants were funny and made filling up an experience. All told - fabulous little dorpie!

We only stayed one night. Arrived late in the afternoon. Bought some food at the Good shop, for supper. We had al lovely, neat, spacious room, comfortable bed and warm shower the next morning. Then we enjoyed a breakfast in the main building's dining room. A lovely experience in old world charm.

We did not spend time in Vanrhynsdorp, bur stayed at Maskam farm outside of town. Ancarene provides most delicious meals, delivered to the cottage where one can dine in private while watching the sunset and the wonderful view of the Gifberg mountain. Absolute peace and quiet! One can surely book different chalets to accommodate the whole family, and have a very special family weekend. A drive up the Gifberg pass is highly recommended. 4x4 with most incredible rock and stone formations, and interesting history.

Heaven on earth if you love the expanse of creation.

Heaven on earth if you love the expanse of creation. Mountain views to die for. On the Gifberg pass there's a waterfall that's just beyond description. There's plenty of places to sleep and eat, Red Ox is the favourite, excellent food at a reasonable price
