We only stayed one night at Maskam Guest farm, but I will definitely return. We did not see much of the area as the trip was to see family only. The town is quaint and a nice safe walk around it in the evening was a pleasant surprise. The Old Jail is a must see together with the nurseries. Lodge was very accommodating and people seem friendly and helpful. The Shell garage attendants were funny and made filling up an experience. We only stayed one night. Arrived late in the afternoon. Bought some food at the Good shop, for supper. We had al lovely, neat, spacious room, comfortable bed and warm shower the next morning. We did not spend time in Vanrhynsdorp, bur stayed at Maskam farm outside of town. Ancarene provides most delicious meals, delivered to the cottage where one can dine in private while watching the sunset and the wonderful view of the Gifberg mountain. Absolute peace and quiet! One can surely book different chalets to accommodate the whole family, and have a very special family weekend. A drive up the Gifberg pass is highly recommended. 4x4 with most incredible rock and stone formations, and interesting history.Guest review byJochieSouth Africa - Review score10.0
Heaven on earth if you love the expanse of creation.
Heaven on earth if you love the expanse of creation. Mountain views to die for. On the Gifberg pass there's a waterfall that's just beyond description. There's plenty of places to sleep and eat, Red Ox is the favourite, excellent food at a reasonable priceGuest review byRichard StemmerSouth Africa
