Situated 46 km from Columbine Nature Reserve, 1.4 km from Port Owen Yacht Club and 3.2 km from Bergriver Golf Course, Shanty's Rest provides accommodation set in Velddrif.

It's definitely a place anyone can go stay for a good price and it's extremely comfortable. The owners are friendly people and make you feel at home. The accommodation has a beautiful view of the river from the balcony. 10/10 from us. We'll definitely go back again!

Set in Velddrif, the recently renovated Seeswael Strand features accommodation 24 km from Rocherpan Nature Reserve and 48 km from Columbine Nature Reserve.

I loved the fact that the hosts were always available via texts and checking in. They also recommended some breakfast spots around. Loved that

    Best towns in the middle of the west coast.

    Best towns in the middle of the west coast. We enjoyed the Visvlekhuis, day out on the sea fishing, Bokkomlaan etc. We did day trips to Langebaan, West coast national park, Jacobsbaai, Dwarskersbos and Elandsbaai.

    An easy journey from Cape Town.

    An easy journey from Cape Town. We love the location and the surrounds of Lermitage Quagga Lodge: right by the beautiful Berg River with rustling reeds, amazing sunsets, lots of birds and of the course the wonderful quagga and other wildlife. The accommodation was excellent. We were 5 adults and 5 kids (aged 14-5) who could roam freely and safely around the chalets. A wonderful few days.

    We had amazing hikes along the beach walking from St Jacobs...

    We had amazing hikes along the beach walking from St Jacobs Bay in the direction of Paternoster. Had lunch at Russels on the Port and Dinner at De See Kat in Paternoster. Both were really nice, Paternoster's restaurant more upmarket.

    Velddrif is a quirky town with a lot of character and...

    Velddrif is a quirky town with a lot of character and magnificent bird life. If you are a nature lover you will adore Velddrif. We stayed just past Velddrif in Dwarskersbos which, although its a little further out of town, had the most beautiful beach with millions of little shells. Special!

    Great little town for a weekend getaway or longer!

    Great little town for a weekend getaway or longer! Ideal if you enjoy fishing and there are many pubs and restaurants :) We liked the place we stayed in, all the standard conveniences are there - note no tv so take your laptop if you need entertainment - wifi is good! Everything was great, except the braai for the studio was a bit small, but we made it work! Although mostly quiet inside, you are next to a busy road so tend to be noisy outside. Cute garden and gazebo for when you braai or want to relax :) Do check out Bokkomlaan which is close, and have nice views and cool little shops and restaurants.

    Velddrif is a nice and peaceful place where you can go to...

    Velddrif is a nice and peaceful place where you can go to get away from all your stress at home. There are lots of small shops that have good coffee, ice cream, and even small vintage ornaments. It is a place you would want to go back to if you just need that getaway.

    The breakfast that Gideon & Joan prepare at their home across the street is absolutely superb. The location of Joan's Place is in a lovely quiet street close to the timeshare complex at Port Owen and the marina and yacht club. There are a few shops and a couple of restaurants at the time share complex, but the main shops in Laaiplek and Velddrif are some distance away and one needs to drive to them.

    The hotel was locked up and I couldnt get in and also tried calling and calling but no one answered their phone. Had to go and find another hotel. Absolutely appalling and when I called them for refund, they werent even interested and told me they closed the hotel at 3pm on a sunday. Disgusting to say the least. they also told me I had no booking - ridiculous when I have a confirmed booking.

    The location was perfect for the reason why we chose the Laaiplek Hotel. The facilities where exactly as we expected, it catered for self catering as well as offered a restaurant for breakfast and dinner.
