Close to Cape Town for a weekend getaway to relax and unwind. Beautiful beaches with spectacular sunsets. It is also the perfect base to explore the many other attractions in the area. We stayed at Salt Bungalow which did not disappoint and was pure coastal luxury.

    Loved everything about Yzerfontein.

Loved everything about Yzerfontein. The fact that it is so quiet and away from all the hustle and bustle of city life. We ate at and experienced a lot of the restaurants. Our fav was Bertie's Sushi & Grill & The Beach House Restaurant. For something lovely and casual, Boeretroos! Loved everything of this amazing village, from the friendly locals, walks on the beach, the amazing ocean views, just everything ticked our boxes!!!

Its' relatively safe. Some superb restaurants e.g. The Beach House. There are wonderful ocean views. Lots of places can be reached on foot. But there are no decent size trees except palms! The Fossil Park is definitely worth a visit.

Great little town with all the amenities.

Great little town with all the amenities. Darling 14 km away (great Darling Brewery craft beer and food). The main beach nearer town is 16km long and perfect for long morning or late afternoon walks. Small harbour and if you are lucky, you may be able to negotiate with incoming fishing boat crew to purchase one or two of their private fish stock, intended for their private home use, as most boats are commercial fishing vessels.

I really like Yzerfontein - have visited before, and made sure to add it to my itinerary again. Enjoyed leisurely drives and discovered an excellent newly opened coffee bar with the BEST lemon meringue cheesecake. RUST.

We last visited Yzerfontein in the early ‘70’s, when there was little more than a handful of single story houses and no commercial development. The way it looks today was quite a surprise - and not a pleasant one! What a confusing tangle of roads, too many “sleeping policemen”, and not enough street name signs. Furthermore, we were shocked to see how few of the many eateries offer line fish on their menu, other than the usual fish and chips. On the up side, there is an excellent SuperSpar, and a fabulous artisanal bakery/coffee shop. As for the restaurants, rather plan on self-catering! It is quite alarming to see the number of large double story holiday homes that are vacant, and apparently are seldom used more than once or twice a year - Easter and Christmas.

We loved the place. It was nice and cozy and we as a family were able to have a awesome time. Yzerfontein is beautiful and the ideal holiday town. It was half way to most of the places we wanted to see and the braai facility in Sonvanger made it possible for us to stay indoors even with the rain outside.
