It was centrally located to the historic "old town". Right around the corner from Mozartplatz. It was easy to walk everywhere. The fortress is right behind you! This was also the only full size shower we encountered on our trip in Europe.

Made famous for its “hills alive with the sound of music”, Salzburg is a very pretty town filled with romantic buildings and squares. If you are not yet aware that Mozart was born here, then you will be as soon as you land at Salzburg W.A. Mozart International Airport.
Further your education about this musical prodigy at his actual birthplace, Mozarts Geburtshaus. The city is the namesake of the Salzach River which runs through it, and alongside this beautiful river lays the Schloss Mirabell, one of the many impressive castles within the city limits. Schloss Mirabell and Hellbrunn with their picturesque gardens, beautiful galleries and impressive halls make the ideal spot for a picnic during summer.
The white-stone Hohensalzburg fortress is perched upon a green hill and offers magnificent views over the city. Or, you can escape it all in the Kapuzinerberg forest, which offers splendid Alpine vistas- a reminder of Salzburg’s natural beauty.
The shopping centre focuses around Alter Markt Square and Getreidegasse, the latter is a quirky street with old-fashioned signs indicating what each store sells. With 125 hotels and guesthouses available on Booking.com, your stay in Salzburg is bound to be as pleasant as this city is pretty.

An extremely interesting city with a vast array of spectacular sites.A must for sound of music fans is the Sound of music half day tour, which was great fun. Then there is the Mozart connection , which the city embraces. Well worth hiring an electric bike to explore a little further afield but need to book in advance of trip to avoid disappointment.
We were there for a city break but given more time would certainly look to explore the outstanding beauty of the surrounding area.

Salzburg is a beautiful city with so much to do and see.
Salzburg is a beautiful city with so much to do and see. Mozart's birthplace (Mozart Geburtshaus), the Mirabell Palace and Gardens and of course the stunning Fortress are absolute "must see" attractions
We took a guided coach tour to Halstatt, which was stunning, and great value for money.
We stayed in an AirBnB which gave us a great base to explore this wonderful city.
There are regular local buses that you can catch to/from Salzburg airport and a hop-on, hop-off bus that means that all attractions are easy to access.
We loved our time in Salzburg and would thoroughly recommend as a great location for a holiday

Beautiful, historic city - pleasant and fun to walk around and take in the sights. The old town and are around the river are beautiful to wander, with lots of cafes and places to stop for a drink.
Absolutely recommend a visit to Hohensalzburg Fortress. An incredibly put together museum and extraction experience, we learned so much on the history of the city. The views from the top of the viewing platform are unbelievable and there is so much to do for both adults and children.
The Mirabell Gardens were beautiful and a gorgeous spot for a stroll with coffee or ice-cream.
I could have happily spend a few more days in Salzburg.

Salzburg is a nice walkable, clean and safe city with a variety of things to see and do. Plenty of bars and restaurants to chose from. It’s a good base for visiting Hallstatt, St Gilgen and St Wolfgang as the transport systems are very good.

Lovely city, but would also recommend using it as a base using the excellent linked public transport. I travelled out to St Gilgen for the day, with views over 3 lakes from the top of the mountain reached by the gondola. A lovely contrast to the city, for only 16 euros return and about 50 minutes. The restaurants at Stiegl Brauwelt are also recommended.

visiting over new year, a lot of the shops were closing early so not much else to do than visit the sites. Overall was nice and easy to walk about. the best was that it had shops not in huge chains so you can find some nice authentic things. the shopping is in the streets and very old school. malls out a little out of town.
the history !!!! many things to see and ecperience, ie Mozarts house and the castle - the sound of music house can only be seen from outside. and walking is nice.

Located in a quiet residential area, about a 10 minute walk into Salzburg old town but some shops and restaurants are only 5 minutes away. Good room nicely furnished. Had a problem with our original room but this was dealt with quickly and efficiently by the friendly staff on reception. We did not have breakfast in the hotel so can’t comment on the food
It's not the best hotel i stayed in Austria at this price however all the hotels in Salzburg are quite expensive. The staff was friendly and the room was clean.
The walking distance to the old town is about 15-20 minutes, but we didn't bother cause everything was pretty to look at. Also, it is relatively close to the Salzburg Centeal station.
The hotel is conveniently located next to the central train station. Our room has glass windows on three sides with fabulous views of the old town and Fortress Hohensalzburg.
LOCATION and PRICE POINT! There are a few hotels in old town Salzburg. Elefant is on par with the others, but at a cost point that's far cheaper. We love this hotel.
The hotel is very well located, clean and nice rooms. 15-20 min walk to the old town of Salzburg. The staff is very kind. Also 10 min from the train station.
