I arrived on the afternoon of a festival where the one-way Promenade was traffic free. With many street food stalls, music and a lot of public. The walk around the lake was enjoyable and also a trip up to Jakobshorn of reduced ticket prices (Fr. 18.- return, make sure that at the top you can get through the turnstile and not pay for the downhill journey like we did. Got a refund at the cash desk at the bottom though) for hotel guests with the tourist card. Also free travel on the the nostalgic train to Filisur and back and on all buses was a bonus. Scenery is splendid, and if you're a train enthusiast, it's the place to be for the Bernina or Glacier Express. Can recommend a bite to eat or just Coffee and Cake at Kaffee Klatsch on the Promenade. Schatzalp is just a funicular away and you'll feel lifted back to the beginning of the last century.Guest review byJeanetteSwitzerland - Review score10.0

Ischgl is a great resort offering fantastic extensive and varied skiing. Pistes well groomed. The lifts are fast, modern and well maintained. Queues Ok even at half term. Ischgl town is pretty and has large selection of Apres ski bars and restaurants and shops which are very friendly. There is a rule that you cannot wear ski boots between 8pm and 6am which seems to successfully stop hordes of drunken revellers wandering about so the Apres is civilised yet still great fun. There are noticeably more young men than other groups and quite a lot of snowboarders compared to some other resorts like Lech but this was not really a problem for our family. We will be returning.Guest review byCarolineUnited Kingdom - Review score6.0

I stayed in this city for 2 nights for the Bernina Express. I didn’t have much time to explore, but it’s a small, quiet, and lovely town. However, if you’re coming just to visit Chur, one night would be enough.Guest review byKaracaTurkey - Review score10.0

I was amazed I was able to book this nice hotel that's located so conveniently to the buses, funicular to skiing, and world class dining and shopping for such a reasonable cost. Don't bother to bring a car because you won't need one.Guest review byDonaldUnited States - Review score8.0

The town lacks a true center, but still offers plenty of Apres Ski and shops. Go visit Yolanda and her daughter at the Arosa Shop for quality souveniers - we bought hoodies and T-Shirts for the entire family. They are friendly and fun! The sport shops are knowledgable and helpful.Guest review byGeraldUnited States - Review score10.0

We stayed in Pontresina for 5 nights in early October.
We stayed in Pontresina for 5 nights in early October. It is a charming town. We arrived by train, and Pontresina makes an excellent place to stay if you want to experience the Bernina Express train journey. The railway station is within walking distance of most of the accommodation, but it would be a struggle with luggage. Our hotel had its own vehicle for transfers, I think most hotels offer the same. When we were there (early October) most of the other travellers were Swiss. While there were plenty of options in terms of restaurants, most visitors were outdoor/ nature loving folk who went for a quiet meal in the evening and then got a good night’s sleep. So the town was very quiet at night, which suited us perfectly. A pass for local transport: trains/ busses/ furnicular railways/ cable cars was included in our hotel tarrif, and this was fabulous. From Pontresina we walked to St Moritz one day and enjoyed the St Moritz cable car, then returned to Pontresina by bus. On another day we caught the train Bernina Diavolezza and the cable car to view the Morteratsch Glacier. We used the “Komoot” app to find other hikes.Guest review byKathrynAustralia - Review score10.0

Galtür is a very family-friendly ski resort with slopes of all difficulties, a fantastic ski school, easy transport to and within the resort, and great restaurants at the slopes. If you need more slopes, the much larger Ischgl is also just a quick bus ride away. The ski bus is occasionally quite packed, but the ride is quick and the bus runs very frequently. You can rent all sorts of outdoor equipment for snowy adventures. There is a large grocery store and also several good to exquisite restaurants. I'd recommend calling and reserving a table at least a day or so before though.Guest review byKarstenGermany
