Fribourg is not a large town but there are a few very interesting things to do. The museums are quite fantastic and have much to offer. There are many walks including up the hill to the Chapelle de Lorette. As a Catholic town, there are some fascinating relics and history at the local churches. As a bilingual city, its fascinating to hear French, Swiss German, and a decent amount of Italian all at the same time. The food scene is quite nice and not as expensive as other places in Switzerland.Guest review byKristian - Review score10.0

Bulle has been a stopping off point for several years now - it's a wonderful small town with a very nice centre. There's a choice of several good hotels and there are plenty of restaurants. The local cheese fondue is a must!Guest review byAndreasFrance - Review score10.0

It's a very attractive little lakeside town with a medieval centre, including intact and walkable fortification wall, and lots of nice places to eat. It is well-connected transport-wise for visits to nearby attractions like the roman ruins in Avenches or the (really well-worth visiting) 12th century abbey in Payerne. Lake boats ply daily (in summer) to Neuchatel.Guest review byMartinSwitzerland - Review score6.0

Tiny Gruyères is better suited for a daytime visit than an overnight stay. Food options are pricey and few between, with limited menus and no activities after dark. Better options for your stay would probably be in nearby Bulles.Guest review bygermeskernashUnited States - Review score10.0

If you don't care about comfortability and cleanliness you can stay there. I usually don't care much about it, but this time it was too much for me. Liked · The hotel is located around 15 mins by bus from the center and 10 mins from the university where I was going to work. The checking was smooth and the next day (I don't know why I didn't receive it during the checking) I was offered a free transport ticket for the city that came in very handy. The room was pretty big, with a nice view of the mountains, and even if I slept with the windows open there was no noise. Disliked · The room wasn't clean: the floor of the room was dusty, the floor of the bathroom had hairs and also dust, the pillows smell used and dusty and the sofa smell of humidity (just like pee, it doesn't affect me much because the room was big and I slept on the other bed). They also left a used toilet paper in the bathroom. When I went to the manager to express these issues he was attentive, however, when I come back to see if the issues were solved he implied it was all my imagination but they were doing their best to comply with me. He also told me that it was normal to have hairs all over the bathroom and that I could use the paper used by someone else because it was the way they do it (I have never heard something like that). When I arrived in the room it was very clean and smelled of soap (except the sofa area), so they really clean it. They changed my pillow and it was a bit better. I tried to use the dryer the last day and it didn't work. I feel like, as a guest, I don't need to worry about receiving the room and the sheets clean, and if I inquire politely about it, I don't like to be shown as extremist or crazy. The hotel is not for free, and I expect what I paid for.Guest review byThais GuillenCuba - Review score8.0

It is a small city but has amazing vibe where diversity meets. I went for business visit and could see lot of people from other countries have settled or visiting this location. The architecture and the city view is amazing. The train station has access to major cities and good enough to stay for a cozy travelers.Guest review bySaravana GopalanNetherlands - Review score10.0

Bulle is a lively small Swiss city close to the mountains of Fribourg. The city has a charming old center with a castle and there are several very nice bars and restaurants for drinks and dining. There are some fantastic Asian restaurants (Thai as well as Japanese) that offer delicious food and drinks. And, there are many opportunities for nearby hiking (e.g. around Lac de la Gruyère, or around the "Gastlosen" mountains starting from the Jaun village). Finally, there is the Cailler chocolate factory (in nearby Broc, 10 min by train), that is definitively worth a visit!Guest review byMarcelSwitzerland - Review score10.0

Beautiful hilltop medieval town with so-so castle, great views, ambiance, a great cheese manufacturing tour, some lovely hotels, a Tibetan museum, and a museum of the works of the disturbed anti-human artist HR Giger. If you are into easy-moderate hiking, the Callier chocolate factory, or the nearby towns (Broc or Moreson) Mt., it will be worth more than one day. I took a lovely hike to Broc on a trail found in the app, AllTrails. This was very worthwhile.Guest review byHenryUnited States
