FAQs about hotels in Istria
Land of History, Sun and Wine
The land of stony beaches, sapphire seas and rocky mountains, Istria is the largest peninsula of the Adriatic Sea. It’s a popular tourist destination famous for its cuisine, weather and wine.
Istria has been a part of many powerful empires: the Byzantine, Roman, Venetian, Austro-Hungarian and more recently, Yugoslavian. Each of them has left an easily recognisable mark on the architecture, giving you an opportunity for a crash course in the region’s fascinating past just by travelling around.
The Brijuni Islands are a must-see for that reason. They were once President Tito’s private property with a large zoo, over 200 dinosaur footprints and a never-ending stream of international guests, including heads of state and Hollywood film stars.
Located near the Brijuni is the largest city of the Istria region, Pula, best-known for the beautiful Roman architecture and tranquil countryside surrounding it, as well as for its winemaking and fishing traditions.
Whether you’re visiting Pula or other towns like Pazin, Porec or Opatija, make sure to visit local restaurants and try Italian-influenced dishes with famous Istrian peppers, truffles and seafood. Finish your meal with grappa or a glass of sweet wine - the best comes from the Kalavojna region.
Istria is a diverse region and Booking.com offers equally diverse properties. From boutique hotels to comfortable apartments, you have a range of nearly 600 properties to choose from.

The city is very beautiful: check out the Old Town and the city center, and also have a walk through the marina and the huge park beyond that. Rovinj is very well kept and preserved. The only donwsize are the prices: they are really too high for what you get. In restaurants, you will pay 20-28 EUR for a pasta dish, while over 35 for a main course. In a bar we paid 9 EUR for a coffe and two bottles of water.Guest review byCarloItaly - Review score10.0
The see was dirty so we had to find some other activity.
The see was dirty so we had to find some other activity. And we found a lot. We were walking in the natural park and met a turtle. We were in Marble cave and it was great. We were vititing Groznjan and Buje, both beautitiful cities. And some waterfalls, absolutely amazing. At last it was one of my best holiday. So there are a lot of other activities possible to do in case os dirty see :)Guest review byJulieCzech Republic - Review score10.0

We absolutely loved exploring the charming city of Pula, where ancient history blends seamlessly with medieval architecture and modern life. The city has a wonderful Mediterranean climate, and even in October, the beaches were stunning, with pleasantly warm water for swimming. Pula truly offers a unique mix of culture, history, and natural beauty that made our visit unforgettable.Guest review byTetianaGermany - Review score10.0

Vrsar is atmospheric and unspoiled.
Vrsar is atmospheric and unspoiled. It is off the main road and the coastal walking and cycle path joins effortlessly to other camping areas, family resorts and huge FKK. Harbourside restaurants are recently augmented by hilltop cafe bars, with live music, accessed most easily by the cute road train. A total delight.Guest review byDenis no menaceUnited Kingdom - Review score8.0

I was there in the off-season, it's certainly very different when it's full of tourists and cars and kids and campers in summer. There's no supermarket but a small bakery selling fresh bread and produce. There's a local olive oil producer in town which was a delight to visit. Lots of excellent paths for walking along the coast. Views like a dream!Guest review byLindseyAustria - Review score8.0
Medulin is very pretty and welcoming.
Medulin is very pretty and welcoming. The scenery is wonderful. Lots of lovely food be it snacks or eating out. Car or two wheel hire is readily available and competitively priced. A lovely destination for a relaxing holiday, easy to get to Pula to enjoy its many wonderful facilities. The airport is very handy and transfer times are good.Guest review byLoraineUnited Kingdom - Review score6.0

Rabac has is a pretty but v small beach front village. If you don't expect much its fine but there is not a lot to do round there and buses are few and far between and taxis expensive in relation to distance.Guest review byJHESLIN1United Kingdom - Review score8.0
Rovinj is more expensive than other nearby town.
Rovinj is more expensive than other nearby town. You can stay in other nearby towns to save money and go to Rovinj as a daytrip. Or try to avoid the summer season which is usually too hot and crowded.Guest review byPeterUnited Kingdom
