The Jamaican breakfasts were excellent - especially the ackee and salt fish and the callaloo. The fried dumplings were light and fresh. The escovitch with steamed bammy and the fried chicken were also excellent.
The staff were friendly, efficient and low key. I had a restful and enjoyable time

The guest house is located right up the mountain, with the most unique landscape. The view is absolutely breathtaking, and the house is surrounded with every possible vegetable and fruit trees which Angela - Jay's mom uses in her delicious cooking. The hospitality and generosity of Jay's family and staff is unique in every standard. Their knowledge of the area and its history is a real gift. The balcony adjacent to the room is the real gem; I could have spent days and days just sitting there, eating, reading my book, staring at the sky and mountains. it is the perfect spot from which to set off to climb the blue mountains. Lamar, the guide, was patient, kind and caring. Take warm clothes, mostly a coat - as it gets really cold at the peak.

The place is awesome, they treated us like family, served us the best food we tried in Jamaica and showed us the real essence of the country. It was a bit complicated to get there but they helped us any time and it turned out to be one of the best experiences of our trip.

The owners made our stay more than perfect couldn’t ask for nicer hosts so friendly & polite made us feel right at home so comfortable and welcoming truly made our holiday complete it was like staying with family, the Location was ideal close to the centre with plenty of shops to choose from, Our room was amazing so spacious had everything we needed ie cooker, kettle , fridge , microwave & accessories , smart TV and WiFi,beds where comfortable the rooms was extra secure with padlocks on the gates outside the room there was also a private secure driveway/parking so we could park our car there every night safely free of charge . Honestly anytime me and my family are in ST THOMAS we know where we will be staying from now on Thank you ever so much Barefoot Guest House 10/10 :) !! X

The property itself is gorgeous. There was a misrepresentation with the booking though - booking.com had several rooms at various prices. I picked the higher priced studio, but once on pretty realised I had been DUPED by the website. One one room, and the lower end of the cost scale, was available. But having booked through booking, I had no recourse. That was not a sweet start to my stay… Booking, be careful! At this rate I’ll use your search function but then call the hotel direct to get clarity on availability and cost!

A bit technical to reach without a taxi but absolutely possible (via farm hill trail from mavis bank). Amazing views when the sky is clear. Friendly and helpful staff. Coffee and meals available (breakfast included)

Jay’s guesthouse is a perfect base for exploring the Blue...
Jay’s guesthouse is a perfect base for exploring the Blue Mountains and hiking its main attraction: the Peak Trail. The trailhead is just a short walking distance from the village. The village and the mountains are perfectly safe to explore.
Jay and his family were very helpful and friendly. We were offered breakfast and dinner each day, and the food was fresh, tasty and plentiful. It was Jamaican village style food: chicken, fish, rice and beans, plantains, etc.
The room was clean and comfortable, and the mountain view was awesome.
We did not take any additional trips due to time constraints, but also because the road is very bumpy and it takes a long time to get anywhere. I would suggest that once you are in the village you take your time to explore the Blue Mountains cloud forest, the nearby villages and coffee farms.
I definitely recommend Jay’s guesthouse to any nature lover. Hope to come one more time and show the magical forest to my friends and family!
